Message Ringtone Weird Behaviour

I have updated my Moto G5S Plus to Oreo. After the update, message ringtone got replaced with Default notification Ringtone.
After much search, I was able to find out and changed Message tone from settings in Messages App.
I have two sim cards. many times, when a SMS comes on first sim, it plays the tone I have set but when it is on second sim, it plays Default notification tone.
many times, it plays default notification tone on all sms.
this happens automatically.
how can it be corrected?

tried but this does not work. as stated earlier, it was perfectly all right before updating to Oreo. this issue started after oreo update.
the thread mentioned has members reporting the problem in Nougat which I never faced.
