Some kernels such as Devil kernel takes it time to gain back signal after a reboot. Patience is a virtue.

Since you live in India, try the modem labeled ddjv5. The dd is the Samsung letter code for India.

Is your IMEI messed up or generic. Look in About phone under Settings. Some have had their IMEI get messed up when flashin to a JB Rom. If it is then you will need to restore the efs folder that you should have backed up (there may be a backup on your internal sdcard, where the copy of the salty rom is etc., made during your flashin). If you don't have a backup, then you will need to Odin or Heimdall back to i897ucKK4 and your imei should be fine then. At that point make a backup of your efs folder. Then proceed with your flashin.

But this has happened to me as 2-3 times i got back signals but after reboot NO SIGNALS. so this is why i am scared to reboot again. plz tell some way so that they stay after reboot as well ...

Did you have this problem when you got the phone?
Also, there's no other way of doing it, you gotta keep trying. Are you in a basement or something?
I don't think it would be anything other than your modem since you said you had this problem with stock KK4 as well.

Ok, did some google searching, the problem may just be the frequencies that your provider, airtel, uses to operate on--compared with what the captivate will run on. You may know more than i found, so what specific frequencies does airtel provide in your area, 2g, 3g, 4g ?? What mhz ? -- Now compare that to the specs of the captivate frequencies.
Let us know what you find.

Who's your provider? Find out which baseband they sell the phone with (stock) and simply flash that specific one.
Also, after you flash a modem which give you signal and reboot to ''test'' it, is the modem you just flashed still showing under your baseband version?

You didn't answer my question.. who's your carrier and do they sell the cappy? If so, what baseband does it has? That would be the one you want to flash.

And the 2nd one has signal? If so, flash find and flash I897UCKB1. Should be in the thread Ace linked.
... hi, sorry for the sooooo late reply, but had a lot of problems. i tried UCKB1 also but it gave some script error (sorry dont remember). After all the frustration, i flashed it with one click odin 2.3.4 and phone was back with signals. then again i tried Paranoid with signal loss again. then i flashed it back to 2.3.4 and flashed it with Salty Bean. again the same problem. ultimately once again back to 2.3.4 ...
What's the modem that's with 2.3.4? You could simply flash that one.
As for your error, it's cause the zip haven't been updated so use the one in aceofspades' link.
