The battery icon is next. But the key here is the thing didn't blow up when I tried this.
I searched and searched for this everywhere (within reason. 90 pages of the XDA forum wasn't worth this. It's easier and faster to re-flash my ROM). I wanted to do this because I have a button for the comm mgr and a today plugin for power management. I'd like my tray for other things, like reducing the size of my SPB Plus tabs.
Registry edit (for real newbies HKLM means HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE):
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\InitialTray\0
I deleted the ClassName Entry altogether. I changed the AppName (from WiFiTray.exe) to:
calc.exe
To give it something to chew on to avoid hanging if I could.
Granted, it takes a few more seconds to boot, and I have to close the calculator when I soft-reset, but I don't mind, yet, and hopefully someone can use this to make more fun, or at least better use of screen real estate, like accompanied by traylnch.exe, (I got from Faria's 3.3.0.0 ROM for Wizard) or another tray launcher:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmpocketpcpowertoys.shtml
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJTrayLaunch
So in order for *this* registry entry to put an icon in the tray, the app reference needs to be to a Tray app (WiFiTray.exe, PowerTray.exe, ScreenRotateTray.exe) plus the ClassName to say what to bring up when it's tapped, otherwise it justs starts whatever app is referenced. (I suspect it does this after the Startup folder runs, but I don't have a way to watch the boot process.)
Has anyone seen this or heard of better ways to deal with this inept and useless MS attempt at spoon feeding the user?
