MHL on Marshmallow?

I have the SM-T815 (Exynos) version with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Does MHL work on Marshmallow? I have a generic MHL adapter with a 5 to 11 pin converter (and the charger plugged into the MHL adapter) but I have no HDMI signal on my monitor.
I didn't try MHL on the original Lollipop so I don't know whether it's the adapter or the newer Android version which causes the problem.
Anyone having a T815 with Marshmallow: does MHL work for you?

I recently bought a tab s2, and discovered after a while that mhl was not featured in my specific version (sm-t813) of course I feel ripped of since that was one of the features that made me choose tab s2. So if mhl is important to you, make sure your specific version of the galaxy tab s2 covers it, don't make my mistake.

Did you use the official Samsung version, or a generic? Apparently Samsung devices often won't work properly unless you use their branded adapter.

Got the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" LTE 819 model and mhl is not working. Same cable works with older Samsung tab (tab 3 8.0 inches), which should have same mhl version.
Either was removed with marshmallow update or it is removed due to hw revision.
Samsung website says it is supported, but clearly ain't true for my model.
Clearly answers here are inconsistent. But it would appear that software supports mhl and newer software does not. Questions about Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" LTE T819 which is slightly refreshed version of T815 with Android 6 need to be addressed specifically. MHL does not work. There is no HTML option in the menu.
Samsung pages are inconsistent. Some claim that MHL is supported, some other - it is not.

Samsung MHL HDMI adapter that works with T810 does not work with T813. I guess, it is down to the differences between Exynos and Qualcomm chipsets.
