Done everything but still no Vowifi. On my A8 both Volte and Vowifi working fine. On my Mi8 global beta also working fine... I don't understand...

Dial *#*#4636#*#* and look in phone information to see if vowifi is switched on, voenabler should have done that if you get the setting in phone app.

Check top right menu, IMS service status, if you get volte it should be registered but if it says vowifi unavailable you have a problem. Possibly with your provider?

Try this:
Turn the Wi-Fi Calling in Phone app menu off.
Disable VoEnabler module in MagiskManager.
Reboot
Enable VoEnabler module in MagiskManager.
Turn the Location Services in Settings on.
Reboot
Turn the Wi-Fi Calling in Phone app menu on.
Turn the Location Services in Settings off.

Hello Boe323. I too have a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite on Vodafone UK 12 month contract and would like to enable VoWifi. I've enabled VoLTE with the#* code. As I am pretty new to all this, I'd appreciate some more detail on what you did. Many thanks.

Im on the latest pie update, so update to latest. Root phone with magisk, install voenable in magisk modules. Thats basically it, apart from joining beta for google phone and downloading latest v27 version, the wifi calling options should show in google phone, try click on carrier provisioning at bottom right of screen after dialling *#*#4636#*#* wait a min or 2 and then turn off the radio toggle for a min so sim will be reset. Thats all can suggest to try as thats what i did. Oh, check your vofafone account to see if wifi 4g calling is enabled and check apn settings to make sure ims is there. If ims isnt there, create new apn called vodafone UK IMS, apn: ims, apn type:ims and save.

First you need to unlock the bootloader, this wipes your phone so make sure it's backed up to Google.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-install-magisk-proper-support-ota-t3836952

This is a guide to install magisk, it's the one you need to use and includes the tools to unlock the bootloader, page 33 details pie instructions but read all the first post.

When in magisk search voenabler and install.

Lots of stuff here and videos on the web about the subject, read and watch it to familiarise yourself with it and get what you need first, it's what I did. I haven't messed with this stuff for many years.

Interesting about the APN, I went through all that and it made no difference (in Oreo) Now it's working I checked and the APN's haven't changed, no reference to ims

Thanks for letting us know mate.

Just volte? Is vowifi still working? I haven't updated pie at all for fear of it breaking vowifi! I don't know if there have been any significant updates? I haven't had a single issue (low user) with pie so I'm happy enough.

Oh, i didnt root it to find out if wifi calling still worked. Ive downgraded back to 1.0.3.0. and its working again, now im constantly factory resetting tryin to get the camera button back in android messages lol. My EE UK sim still worked on HD with update but vodafone wouldnt have it, flashing previous modem on it own doesnt fix it. Really buggy if you ask me. You can upgrade to 1.0.3.0 and root to get vowifi and disable carrier for HD calling.

So i downgraded and enabled volte, updated and is now working fine with new update, yet to test wifi calling but shouldnt be a problem hopefully. Cannot get the camera button back at all, it sits next to the plus button in android messages, it will not come back and is annoying. Did you know that factory resetting and then setting active slot back to A puts the software back 1.0.3.0 ?, just found out, and it wont install the update after that.

Very disappointed that WiFi calling / VOWiFi isn't enabled by default. I don't want to root my device as it's buggy, difficult to achieve and I want to receive security updates easily.

Question, how to make Xiaomi aware that they need to add a 'switch' in settings so that we can enable it easily? (See attached picture for example)?

If we drop this question massively @ the right address it may help to get this setting with an update.

I don't understand why Xiaomi would cripple their phones intentionally, disabling functions that are selling points in todays crowded market. Perhaps it is Google dictating to them under the GoogleOne licensing? Because of 'network compatibility issues' which is rubbish as there is a lot of miss-information from the networks about vowifi compatibility as they want you to buy a phone from them (my network app still tells me I don't have vowifi or 4g calling...) Or is it just Google wanting to sell Pixels with all the functions?

Who knows.

Rooting is easy with the Magisk tutorial on here (do not follow the twrp method), as for updates I can't be bothered with the incremental monthly issues and disable auto-update, maybe in six months or if there are any worthwhile system updates to improve the phones function I will.

As I have no root dependant apps except Magisk, or any apps that may have corrupted my system, as far as I know I just uninstall Magisk which removes root, update pie then get a patched boot image for the new build and install Magisk again.

Have got your button back yet ;)

After having no signal at home for two years I have been relying on whatsapp, I had a look in my text app and yeah the camera is there when you hit the + button.

I just updated to 10.0.7.0 via ota! Very soon after that I got a text message from my isp saying that wifi calling had been activated on my phone. This might have been a coincidence or it might have been a result of the update, I don't know, but I set about getting it going and eventually succeeded with a little bit of help from this thread. This is how it worked for me.
It does seem as if the Magisk 'voenable' module is necessary, so install and enable that, but after that the instructions on this thread did not work for me mainly because nobody told me exactly how to access the settings to switch it on, so here they are: (bear in mind I am using 10.0.7.0) I don't know if they will be the same on earlier versions).
1] Open the phone app
2]Tap the three dots at the end of the search bar.
3]Select settings.
4]Select 'Calling Accounts'
5]Select your first sim card.
6] Tap 'wifi calling'
7] Switch the function on
8] Switch to card 2
9] Switch that on(if you want it on both cards).
Then, to test it switch on Aeroplane mode, switch wifi back on, and make a call. If it asks you to select a sim card for the call then the function is not enabled, otherwise the call should connect.

There is even a selection available in the sim card menus to select if you want to prefer wifi calling or mobile calling which some might want to utilise.

First thanks for your update. I think that the text message of your ISP is indeed a coincidence. As long as you need Magisk Voenable module, WiFi calling is not enabled by Xiaomi in the stock ROM.

As Above.

I updated with ota and lost Magisk and vowifi, checked in phone info and vowifi was not available so the update hasn't 'allowed' it. I downloaded the 10.0.7 boot image, did the bootloader thing, re-installed Magisk and it's working as before.

What is a bit annoying is since installing Magisk again with the latest release, when the phone is off and you put it on charge the AndroidOne start screen stays on with full brightness.

When I first installed Magisk v16? it had the same problem, the last update v17 it was ok, now in v18 it is doing it again! Or is it something I need to fix, or can I go back to v17? If anyone has any ideas. Thanks.

shutdown the phone first, plug in charger and let the corruption screen show up, should change to battery after that.
