Long time lurker, lost acces to old account so I made a new one. I've flashed numerous ROMs on plenty of phones thanks to this forum and extended the lifetime of my phones for many years, thanks for that.

I've had some random reboots before, both while using MIUI Global Dev ROM as well this 7.1 ROM, every once i a while. But today, sadly, i would not turn on anymore. Or in fact it does - but it goes off directly ( like in a second) after showing the logo - and back on again without me pressing buttons. It keeps repeating for at least half an hour.
After i got home and left the phone charging I tried to boot the phone again it would turn on and off constantly, only showing the MI logo and different shades of brightness. Entering recovery only worked once sadly . Plugged it into my pc, i can only hear the sound no disk showing, and started fastboot. Only in this mode it stays on and does not go immediately back off again.
So after this I fastboot flashed both new ROMs and recoveries but it keeps going on and off all the time.

Any suggestions where to look for a solution? If this post needs any clarification, please feel free to ask.

Try replacing your battery. I had this problem before, and it turns out the battery's derped out.
Another problem could caused this, but it involves dead eMMC, so let's hope that you had that because of a dead battery.

Will try. Although, it does stay on while in fastboot? Can it still be a battery issue tho? It indeed looks like it somehow has not enough power to boot all the way through.

For those reading this tread later and occurring the same problem; i've ordered this battery I cant post links yet. Will update if the solution worked.

Hi!
I have sort of same issue. My phone isn't showing anything when battery but only red light (sometimes blink and sometimes not). Without battery it can go to fastboot mode and rarely to recovery (twrp installed), but my screen is broken :( . I was thinking to repair it but I am not taking any steps for it's fix. Please let me know if it's battery problem or not. :)

I'am not sure. I've done a whole bunch of sloppy flashes. None of them actually worked since my battery died apparently. I also wiped everything before my first flash with the new battery. So i can't tell.

At first, the symptoms are almost the same. But if you keep on fastboot flashing, if your battery is dead, you'll never have a problem within MiFlash. If your eMMC is dead, there would be an error popping out here and there while flashing with MiFlash.

Well, since the battery is pretty much cheaper, I would suggest you to replace your battery whether it's really your problem or not, moreso if your device is old already. Replacing the eMMC could cost you two-three times the dough than battery; but depended on the service center, you can get up to 64 gigs for the replacement (in Indonesia, the largest offer is only 32GB btw)

did u loose any data when you did this ?
There shouldn't be any data loss tho... because it only fails because the dead battery triggers some failchecks before booting AFAIK. But repeated bootloops might cause it, so it would be better the first time you got the bootloop you immediately plug out the battery, then replace the battery.

Persistant and continuous bootloops is normally a result of the battery being at the end of it's life - I would seriously recommend replacing the battery. Fortunately batteries for this device are fairly inexpensive, and like always, when troubleshooting issues - always start with replacing the least expensive components that are likely the cause to your issue.

I too had to replace the battery in my Xiaomi Mi 3W due to continous boot loops, they would only occur when attempting to do anything CPU intensive, and likewise, my device would remain on in recovery and fastboot without a problem. Anyhow, replacing the battery cleared my symptoms instantly.

Don't waste your time/money with eBay batteries. The best battery I've found, that is much alike the original is the Nohon Battery... This can be purchased at aliexpress for a good price: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ori...32677903782.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.YHewuy
