Mi4C or Redmi Note 3?

I seriously don't know if SD are better than MTK. Some MTK have beaten SD and vice versa. I guess the developers love SD, because (from what I've heard) the kernel have open source, which means that you can dig deeper when creating ROMS. But I'm not a developer, so I wouldn't know for sure.

My MI4c charges rather quickly... Maybe from a few % to 60% in about 30 minutes. The next takes maybe an hour or so, but at least I won't run out of juice... 60% is better than a few %, right? :)

Like you, I don't care about fingerprint scanner... It's just a gimmick using my precious battery...
Well the convincing factor for me is that qualcomm has been making chipsets for smartphones for quite sometime now compared to MTK.

I know for sure that the redmi note 3 will feel a bit more "warm" due to it's aluminum body. I know because my previous phone is an HTC One m7 which feels hotter when compared to phones with plastic body. Good phone though.

Guess I'll never buy a phone made of metal/aluminum no matter how premium it looks because of my experience with the htc one. Yeah metal looks good but when it heats up it's quite uncomfortable to hold.

EDIT: Just found out today as well that the phone's bootloader is locked. According to the official english forums, not all redmi note 3 owners were able to unlock their bootloader. I believe some of them were not able to get the unlock code despite waiting for almost 2 weeks. No official word has been given by Xiaomi regarding this but if you are into flashing custom roms like CM for example, I would stay away from this device at least until the bootloader gets unlocked for all owners without any issues

Sure, Qualcomm has been making chipsets for smartphones for quite some times, but MTK was found back in 1997, so they are no rookies when coming to experience in wireless tech. Also MTK do make chipsets for devices by Acer, Lenovo, Micromax, Huaweii, Xiaomi, Philips, LG, ZTE, Sony, etc., so I guess they are up to the task when making SoC for Smartphones. I do understand your concern, though (I also have it, by the way) as MTK is a new name for many Americans and Europeans (including me) - but their merits proves, at least to me, than they know what they are doing. :)

For the average user, I don't think they would know or notice if they used an MTK chip compared to Qualcomm - unless we compare mid-range to flagship chips. Then it's like apples and pears, and not really comparable. But since you're here in XDA, I guess we are both geeks when coming to phones... :D

Regarding aluminum/metal cases. My MI4c gets a little warm when using it for excessive tasks, but otherwise it doesn't get really warm - but plastic is not a very good heat conducter, but all phones get warm eventually if you use if for a longer period of time I guess.. I used to have the m7 as well (not my girlfriend has it), and I didn't find that particular hot either. I'm not a gamer on phones, so I guess my choice of phones reflects that. I wouldn't be concerned with buying an aluminum phone again, the chips are getting better cooling, but plastic would be the cheaper if you're on a budget.

I'm a heavy user and my data is on all the time (4G) and the m7 heats up pretty fast. Sometimes while playing clash of clans, the phone heats up (the back of it and the screen) to the point that it's uncomfortable to hold. It's just my experience though.

Nevertheless, I'll stay away from the redmi note 3 as I've just found out that the bootloader is locked and people are having problems with unlocking it.

Do you now if this solution works with Redmi Note3? http://en.miui.com/thread-193238-1-1.html

No man sorry. I'm frequently visiting the Redmi note 3 english forum probably once or twice a day in hopes of finding a 100% fool proof way to unlock the bootloader as I'm still interested in purchasing the device. Unfortunately there is no way around it as of the moment.

According to the english xiaomi forums, if you wanna unlock the bootloader, you will need to go thru the official unlock process which involves waiting for xiaomi to approve your unlock request. Now here's the part wherein everything goes downhill, you would need to wait for the unlock code to be sent to you via SMS. A very few people has actually received the golden SMS. This caused an outrage to the loyal xiaomi fans in the forum as most of the people who tried to unlock hasn't received that SMS yet despite waiting for more than 25 days. They felt like they have been betrayed as xiaomi sold them a locked device.

Hi,

I am really struggling to make a decision.
Which one should I buy?
I use Mi 4C. I'm from china. I have the same question like you before I make the decision. But, you know, Redmi is the secondary product line of Xiaomi. So I suggest Mi 4C. Besides, there are international ROM version that is already compatible to Mi 4C. as far as I know, Redmi Note 3, no the international ROM version. So... I think you don't want to use a chinese MIUI, right?

i got both here, i am happy with my mi4c but the redmi note 3 is really nice! The redmi note 3 i for a friend because 5,5 is to big for my.

i just got one problem with the redmi note 3, in the plastic on the back make some strange noise if you press it, sounds like a film under it witch wasn´t removed.....
Did you notice any differences between the two cameras? They are identical on paper, but depending on which sample image you look out the quality of the Mi4C seems to be better.

Hi guys!
I need some advice, I have a Mi4c (16/2gb) and my father wants a new phone. He likes the Mi4c so I'll probably will give him my own.
My struggle is that I have to buy a new phone (230€ range), and I don't know if I should buy the Redmi Note 3 Pro (32gb/3gb) or the Mi4c (32gb/3gb).
As far as I know the redmi has a worse camera sensor and that makes me wonder :p
If someone had this struggle already, could share their opinion?
