micro sd card

I'm wondering what the maximum capacity micro sd card for the note 8t is, some sources are saying 256GB and others 512GB.
I'm currently using a 128GB sd removable storage, works great, but it's full.

what's the biggest you tried? I'm guessing nobody tried a 1TB (+-300€) on this specific device but maybe 400GB (+-60€) or 512BG (+-90€)

It supports SDXC so anything up to 2TB should work.

So why do almost all review state a max size micro sd card? Does the limit only apply to using a card as internal storage? Even here on xda there's a review titled Redmi Note 8 Review – Great Value For Money Without Compromise, stating microSD support up to 512GB.

Usually the maximum quoted is the largest size that's readily available, Xiaomi doesn't state a specific maximum size for these phones, they just state SDXC which is up to 2TB.

so the limitation is related to the socket type ? and not the file system ?

i tought it support any capacity under ExFAT system

SDXC uses exFAT as the default filesystem but the SDXC specification is 32GB*to*2TB.
