@Alexey71 - So a bit more testing today, if I edit the Bluetooth settings for my "Hands Free System" - the label it gives my Car's bluetooth, and I untick the phone and media option (there's three options, phone, media and share contacts). Save that, and then retick media and then phone and save it. Immediately after doing that, I can get the Bluetooth system to make an outgoing phone call, it dials the number.

However after doing that once, the next time, it always says the phone is not connected.

If I just untick the phone and save it, and tick phone and save it, it doesn't seem to work. I have to do phone and media.

@Alexey71 - Just one more item I noticed today, when my bluetooth system can't dial, I noticed it also can't read the signal strength on the mobile phone. Normally when its working, it will tell you the signal strength on the console as well, and if the signal is low, it will tell you that before it dials.

If I disable Phone and Media support, and re-enable Media and then Phone support, immediately after that it can read the signal strength, and you can make an outgoing call, with the Bluetooth system dialing the number. After that phone call, it can't read the signal strength again.

So another possibility is its to do with that ability, if it can't read a signal strength, it thinks that no phone is connected.

Thank.if I want to backup my current ROM
What should I pick on TWRP .there too many options on it not sure which one should I pick
For a basic system backup now, I would probably do SYSTEM, VENDOR, BOOT and DATA.

The first three cover the basic Rom image, the last one DATA covers your actual application data and apps - this includes any settings you have in your rom, like Wifi passwords etc.

Am I the only one who experience Bluetooth problems during calls? Everything is working great when lissning to music etc but in calls the audio gets all garbled.

It worked great before the Bluetooth (AptX) update, 13/06 and older.

My Bluetooth calls work fine on my Mitsubishi cars Bluetooth system, receiving calls works fine. Dialing via the phone, using the Bluetooth as a hands Free device works fine, but dialing via the Bluetooth system is an issue.

For me, after a fresh restart, after the initial Bluetooth connection I can dial out once via the Bluetooth car system, but after i hang up, it can no longer read the signal strength on the mobile, only the battery level can be read. Once this happens, it doesn't believe a phone is connected anymore and won't dial out.

The work around for the moment, is to use Google Assistant as my dialing control for when i am in the car.

I think the Aptx update supports higher quality Bluetooth connections, so on older Bluetooth devices that might cause some issues, not sure how the fall back works to older bluetooth audio streaming, but that might be where the bug is.

Edit - if you want to make sure the developer knows - include @Alexey71 in your comments, that way he gets a message sent to his xda user account

Yeah read about your issues with the Bluetooth connection in your car but, as you also stated, I think this is separat. It would be nice if someone could confirm that calling with Bluetooth headsets works on their end.

It could be outdated headsets but I doubt it since neither of the pair I tried are perticular old. I also tried fiddling around the Bluetooth settings under developer settings and switching kernel, but to no avail.

@Alexey71 - I think this is the Commit from the Asop Extended Rom, that might fix up the Bluetooth Call issue.
https://github.com/AospExtended/platform_system_bt/commit/9e66084694ea8ae8954045a1dee704c0063df9e4

Possibly this commit is also related
https://github.com/AospExtended/platform_system_bt/commit/9b4f87b739e29e1816daf3d50ce79db6f6e3b19c
Actually this Second Commit looks like its already in LOS, so maybe its just the first commit

Small update regarding my in call Bluetooth problem... Seems that if I disable the wifi the audio sounds fine but with wifi on its distorted.

So first disregard what I said about it working in older versions, I probably just happened to make the calls when not connected to wifi. Secondly any idea why this is happening? I thought about wifi assistant calling but did't see it markt in "* # * # 4636 # * # * - phone menu".

Well for now Tasker to the rescue.

Unfortunately the problem hasn't been fixed. With the test build.

However i did notice this time that if i leave the media profile off in the Bluetooth settings, the Bluetooth dialing basically works every time, it can read the signal strength.

I might do a backup and flash the aosp extended Rom as a test to see if the Bt Call fix in the latest build fully solves my issue. Will have to be later as i am at work now.

Attached is a photo of the Bluetooth console feedback when it can see the mobile signal, and it allows dialing and secondly when it only sees the battery and won't allow dialing.

Edit: @Alexey71
I just noticed that your commit for the Build, it has "BTM_SCO_ENHANCED_SYNC_DISABLED FALSE", instead of "BTM_SCO_ENHANCED_SYNC_DISABLED TRUE" - was it already set to True and you changed it to false?

Edit: Actually - it looks like the logic statement is reversed, so its probably right - anyway, problem is there still.

bt_target.h
Code:
+/* This is used to work around a controller bug that report supporting
+ * enhanced synchronous commands */
+#ifndef BTM_SCO_ENHANCED_SYNC_DISABLED
+#define BTM_SCO_ENHANCED_SYNC_DISABLED FALSE
+#endif
In the Aosp Extended Commit - "BTM_SCO_ENHANCED_SYNC_ENABLED TRUE"
https://github.com/AospExtended/platform_system_bt/commit/9e66084694ea8ae8954045a1dee704c0063df9e4
Code:
+#ifndef BTM_SCO_ENHANCED_SYNC_ENABLED
+#define BTM_SCO_ENHANCED_SYNC_ENABLED TRUE
 #endif

@Alexey71 - So I just tested the latest AOSP eXtended build on my Redmi Note 4x, to see if the commits added resolved my outgoing Bluetooth Call issue, but this rom also has the same issue.

The AOSP eXtended rom doesn't have support for exfat SD cards as well - back to my favourite Oreo rom - your LOS eXtended build.

I might try rolling back to an April 2018 build of your Rom, as I am pretty sure last month, I didn't have any of these issues. I am wondering if Google has broken something in the Bluetooth Media profiles in the May 2018 security update. As it seems to be something to do with Media and Phone Bluetooth profiles.

:good:

Would you mind testing your Bluetooth headset while making a call and connected to a wifi network?
