I found out this is because I attempted to flash a "deodex" mod on my "odex" rom

SO I am working myself up to "wiping" the phone and starting from scratch (batt life is horrendouse so I think I got something "hinky" going on somewhere and its about time to clean house anyway.

PROBLEM. I know sometimes when you factory reset "stuff" lingers. for example on my note II a factory reset did not remove the nexus camera I installed (for photosphere)

how do I insure all mods etc.. are "wiped" so that the deodex mod I tried to install (CRT mod) is GONE ??

Best to flash from TWRP either one of the two stock roms with root added from freeza, or go way back to stock using Odin and installing stock MJ4 from Skunk Ape's thread. At that point you can re-root, flash recovery and knock yourself out with any of the terrific roms on the dev forum. The latter is the longest route but leaves you with the cleanest slate.

If you are rooted and installing a ROM, after setting it up the way you like it, ALWAYS do a Nandroid BU. It only takes 5-10 minutes but it saves a ton of time from having to do a factory reset when adding a rogue mod or making an error at 3AM. You then can just go to your preferred recovery (Mine is TWRP, some like CWM) and restore from your BU. Your Nandroid is your life saver when rooting.

can do one the "first" time since the first time is screwing around figuring out what you "want" to keep. my process is this

new phone. root flash configure

PLAY. play play play. figure out what I want what I need what is bad.

wipe it out. do it again leaving out the don't need and bad and then make a backup.

I am at the "wipe it out" stage :)
