Still not working :(

Hi, I followed all steps and the AA Mirror application is not shown on speedometer.
In the desktop head unit it is successfully displayed and it works.
Any other suggestion, please?

Versions:
- AA: 3.9.585063
- Google Play Services: 14.7.99

Can anyone tell me please if the AA Mirror works fine on GPS 14.7.99?

Thank you very much,
Beniamin

Are you using AA_Phenotype_Patcher_0.85 to unlock?

Are you using AA_Phenotype_Patcher_0.85 to unlock?

I confirm it works using AA_Phenotype_Patcher_0.85, but FIRST you should clear data of Android Auto and Google Play services.

My BIG QUESTION now is should we block AA and GPS for updates?
In my opinion screen mirroring in AA is like a ping-pong game, Google always block AA Mirror (3rd party apps) and devs always find solutions to hack Google blocks. What should we do?

Description of the solution:
- versions: AA 3.9, GPS 14.7.99
- it works also with AA Mirror Plus
- AA in "Release" application mode and "Unknown sources" unchecked
- AA_Phenotype_Patcher_0.85 to unlock

I want to buy a phone that will be only at the car with my sim to make calls, what is the best for android auto? I thought about xiaomi because it has root enable in the menu.

Maybe there is dedicated box for AA?

You don't need to block updates for Android Auto nor for Google Play Services as it works perfectly with any versions both of them. Even on Android 9.0 with newest versions.
For resolution issue (after disconnection AA Mirror from car system) check simply solutions I posted on XDA few times. Other people also proposed some solutions for this problem. Just check it. You can just reboot the phone if you don't mind this issue and the settings of density and screen resolution will be back to the standard on your phone.

Regards.

Can some one who bought obd2aa help me confirm?

Do you need to add it to the whitelist using Jen method in order for obd2aa to appear alongside AAmirror in the menu?
Or no need?

Actually you won't be able to use it with any other 3rd party apps. Emil has put in a check for that and his app won't run. Don't think there is any work around for that.

Oh dear...

So meaning I wasted my money?
hmmm, dont really understand why there is such a restriction.
AAMirror and OBD2AA serves two different purposes.

I watched on Youtube that someone actually could run both AAMirror and OBD2AA...

Dear all,

Some help or suggestion for fix needed.

I got the BLW (beautiful live wallpaper) app which is a live wallpaper with music visualiser.

Everything works fine during normal usage.
I can see the title of the song as well as the bars/lines moving with the music.

But when I aamirror, i can see the title of the song, but not the moving bars or lines.

The strange thing is sometimes I can get it to appear, but most of the times it doesnt.

Is there something I can tweak to solve this?

Many thanks in advance.

i'm running 3rd- party apps on AA 3.1.58 + GPS 12.5.29 for 2-3 weeks now. I'll release an unlock apk when i get around, but for now i prefer to wait for google to lose interest and release a new version to see if they block this method as well.
    The unlock will require root.

Hey, i'm opening this thread since i've noticed that some other threads are used to talk about this.

As i have already mentioned it should be possible to show the screen content via http using my app (https://github.com/nerone-github/WebViewAuto) (or any other webview app to be exact).

Basically we need something which can pass user input (tap) from Car -> Phone, and the Image from Phone -> Car.

Now at least i can confirm that the second - Image Phone -> Car is not a big deal. It even works without root using this wonderful application

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.dvkr.screenstream
    https://github.com/dkrivoruchko/ScreenStream

Now all we need is the input. So anyone got an idea how to do that?

I know that this is basically "against" the Android Auto concept of providing a distraction-free UI. But ultimately this will probably never be an easy thing to do, and probably just used by experienced and hopefully responsible drivers.

How to use Netflix, DAZN or other video app, that block video mirroring, with AA

Install an app like Root Explorer from Play Store
Install Tasker app from Play Store
Download attached files and extract to a folder on PC
Transfer the frida and mirror.js files to the device

Copy frida and mirror.js files on /system/bin directory
    Set 755 permission to frida

Open Tasker App and tap on Tasks tab
Create new Task, set a name and select Run shell action

Into Command field write this line:

    frida -e -s /system/bin/mirror.js -n buildNameApp

    For netflix:
    frida -e -s /system/bin/mirror.js -n com.netflix.mediaclient

Select Use Root checkbox and click back arrow to save the task

Tap on Profile tab and add a new Profile
Set name and choose Application action
Select the App (in our example Netflix) and tap back arrow
Tap on the task name created previously

If you did everything correctly when you open the video app, you should be able to see the app with Android Auto.
