I use the mic for voice recognition instead of typing on the keyboard and the mic icon was always on the keyboard until after my phone was updated by OTA accidentally (I hit the wrong button when I was on wifi). I can't get the mic icon back no matter what I tried in the keyboard settings. I even tried a factory reset and the mic icon is still missing and I have to do an extra step to get to the mic icon. Anyone else have this problem and were you able to correct it? It's an at&t note 2 SGH i317 Android 4.1.2 I317UCAMH3

Weird. Well until you update to 4.3 you will probably have to manually select it. The only other thing to do would be factory reset.

I have done a factory reset..... didn't help. The demo note 2 at the local at&t corporate store has the same issues and the employees there was not able to fix their unit or mine.

Well if that'd the case you either have to flash a custom rom or wait for the ota to 4.3.

I am not savvy enough to root or flash since I am new at this. Big learning curve for me.

The local att store told me 4.3 is cancelled and the next ota will be 4.4.

What carrier is your N7105 on?

I'm on att with i317 from att. I just flashed a custom rom based on the 7105.

Rooting pretty easy. Follow the rooting guide. I think it's in general.

What advantage do you get based on a N7105 rom? N7105 is international model and the frequencies are very different than I317? Just tryin to learn so I can choose which rom to go with.

The advantage is you get rid of all the att crap. You pretty much turn it into a non carrier branded phone. The att radio is the same so LTE etc works like it should.

I am looking forward to rooting my phone. I want to be able to use it on Straight Talk and T-Mobile prepaid SIMs and be able to do some light tethering. What is a good ROM to go with (there are so many).?

As a first step, I just got my phone unlocked at a small store that sells many prepaid SIM plans and also repair phones. They are licensed in NY and gave me a bill of sale with imei # on it for factory unlocking my i317. It was done with a usb cable to their computer and they say it is a permanent unlock.

Is there anyway I can tell if that is true or not?

Did you solve the Mic issue on keyboard? I noticed you don't have secondary keys on the Samsung keyboard..I have the codes you can enter to enable them,if you want them..

Try the ditto rom the OP said new version tonight or stock n7105 rom works perfect. If you want aosp then I'd say omni rom.

You phone will stay unlocked no matter what rom you flash.
