Hi guys, Vodafone Italia operator, first with MIUI 10 everything worked and the voLTE icon was displayed near the field signal ...
Unfortunately with the update to MIUI 11 everything disappeared ... it remained only HD call.
I don't know how to solve ...
Hopefully with the next update they will solve this problem ...

You need to disable 'Carrier Check'.
For VoLTE type via dialer *#*#VOLTE#*#*, for VoWiFi type *#*#VOWIFI#*#*. Finally you can check the status via *#*#4636#*#*.

Then it's most likely a provider thing and the ROM, whatever it is, can't do anything. Nevertheless it amazes me since the first two codes codes are Xiaomi / Miui internal codes, not working at all on non-Xiaomi ROMs.

Did you try a reset? Someone tried this and it worked - unfortunately I have so many apps with customized information that I would need too may hours to rearange everthing after I do a reset ... so I hope there will be an update.

I also think the same thing and I would not do a Reset, only to lose data or reinstall all the apps.
I hope in the reports I made to Xiaomi, and in any case in a future update.

I got you chief. Get a build.prop editor, edit the build.prop file, go to the very end and insert this. (Refer to first image)

This is a guide on how to enable VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling on the Mi 9 and (possibly) other MIUI 11 devices.

NOTE: Wi-Fi calling WILL NOT work if your carrier doesn't support it.
Root is required for any of this to work.

Download the Wi-Fi calling document because you will need the text inside

Go ahead and download build.prop editor by JRummy Apps from the play store. Open the app, allow superuser access, more permissions, blah blah blah whatever.

Now, press the pencil (that means edit the document) and scroll all the way to the bottom. Right at the end, go down a line and paste the text from the document. Now press save (floppy disk icon). Refer to image 1 if you had a hard time understanding this.

After doing this, restart your phone.

Now, go to settings, tap on SIM Cards and Network, tap on your (main) SIM card, and an option should be visible and should be asking you if you want to use WLAN to make calls. Image 2 should tell you what it should look like

Now to make sure that Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE is on, go to settings again, tap on My Device, tap on All Specs and tap on Internal Storage several times until a network testing menu appears. Tap on phone Information 1 (or wherever your main SIM card is on) and find an option called Mobile radio Tower. If you are having a hard time finding that, look at image 3. Wi-Fi calling, video calling, and VoLTE should all be turned on.

The VoLTE option sometimes doesn't turn on. To fix that, you just need to turn off the Mobile radio Tower option off, wait for it to slide to "off" and wait for a couple of seconds. Turn it back on and wait until the VoLTE option has slid to "on".

If all three are working, congrats! You have Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE!

Hope this helps!!

Unfortunately my phone is not rooted - so I just tried the settings from image 3. Unfortunately LTE and Wifi buttones are not active. I can't change them. They appear as "off".
Damned. With MIUI 10 everything worked.

Rooting is a very safe and easy method (as long as you don't install anything that's not documented as safe).

So, MIUI was updated today with a patch to Android December Saftey Updates - unfortunately Wifi-Calling/VoLTE is still not working ....
11.0.6.0
I am very frustrated. Which developer forgot to change Network Settings from MIUI 10 to 11 for this!

VoLTE and VoWiFi work perfectly here, Paranoid Android Quartz a2 and Telekom Germany. It also worked nicely when I was on Xiaomi.EU (Miui 11 - Android Q), somewhere in November last year. It might be your contract but in general Telekom supports both.

Cheers

How did you enable Volte and ViWiFi on Vodafone Greece? I also have a mi 9t and cannot enable them. Can you help. Thanks!!

Contact Vodafone GR (even their website and use chat to request VoWiFi/VoLTE service for your mobile number), they will handle it. Meanwhile you can also use *#*#VOLTE#*#* and *#*#VOWIFI#*#* settings to check that are in disabled state. You should be able to see VoLTE and VoWiFi settings (enable/disable etc) in your Sim cards & mobile settings (pick your Vodafone SIM settings then).

I have Vodafone in Italy the same problem but I wouldn't know how to insert the writing in the numeric keypad I just slip the symbols.
