Regarding the camera, i for one saw a small improvement when taking photos in direct sunlight and getting a bit more details in the dark areas. Before those areas were a bit too dark for my tastes but now they seem a bit lit up and with a bit more details.

Also the zoom stabilization past 10x has improved a lot imo.
Also there is a small improvement on digital processing when taking a zoom picture. I can see that the writings are better recreated now ( tested with maximum zoom on a panel where i couldn't read the text )
Attached a normal and ultrawide shots.

Also please take in consideration that these were shot from the car with the windshield not so clean ;)

    Just got 12.5 stable too.

Loving the pace of the updates on the CN ROM so far but also a disappointed at the same time with the lack of camera improvements (or maybe they're just not documented?)
I don't think they have improved camera functionality in 12.5.2 yet

The rear panel still doesn't do much as far as i can tell

If I can side load this does it:

    1. Require flashing a completely new ROM? Or is it just a side loaded update that doesn't wipe content?

    2. Will I get OTA updates afterwards?
As you trigger the install over the reguar update function it does nothing different to a normal update with download. It does neither wipe content nor inhibit any future update functions :)

I did use the OTA-package - I would assume its the same for the full ROM, but have no own experience on this device

If you can flash it through the package updater it should be fine but this didn't work for me because it's still a "stable beta" version

If you want to unlock or anything goes wrong you will lose your data anyway so backup anything important to pc or cloud first

Did you need the unlocked bootloader? Or nominees for that? Thanks
No, my device is still bootloader locked (awaiting unlock this weekend although I presently doubt I'll do this unless the reasons for all those fastboot-bootlocks are cleared - 12.5CN is running pretty nicely here in Germany).

In fact you are using the official update functionality with an official update package - so no need for any "tricks" and also no interference with the unlock waiting time....

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Lol

Only thing I noticed is an extra ~10gb or so of bloatware junk apps is removed from the EU version

I think when I installed it I only had 45 apps in total and even some of those I will probably remove

Can someone tell me if the .EU ROM sends less info back to Xiaomi? In other words more private?

I use NextDNS and when I observe my DNS logs. My device is making an absurd number of connections to Xiaomi URLS.

I'm not complaining, I knew what I was getting into when I bought the device, hence why I'm blocking these at the DNS level. However I am just curious if the .EU ROM addresses this in anyway and makes less calls back to Xiaomi in general?

i installed miui 12.5. manually today and shame that rear display not get any new options, like record video, hope they bring something new in next update
I was expecting some increased functionality of that rear screen too.... I will be very disappointed if we don't ever get it...

20mp punch hole camera on the front isn't great anymore, it's no improvement on those found on much cheaper phones from previous generations.....

All went well. Thanks guys. I basically have no desire to flash .EU right now. China ROM is totally fine.

That's good, thanks for the info.

I got a bit too curious tried enrolling for the beta program under the standard Android Updater settings, which took me to a page to install the Mi Community app. It then asked me to sign-up for a beta testing group but after giving them my contact details, it said there's already too many users enrolled (something like 500k testers already?). I had to ask a friend who could read Chinese to help translate the UI elements for me :D
Because the application threshold is too low, resulting in too many people to apply.. (when you have the internal test qualification of other mobile phone models and don't need to own the mobile phone, you can apply for approval without approval.)

      There are several solutions.
      1. Borrow your friend's Xiaomi account with internal test qualification.
      2. Buy an account with internal test qualification on Taobao or other platforms.
      3. In Xiaomi community, the "internal test score" reaches 900, but it may be a little difficult for foreigners.
      4. You can flash xiaomi.eu ROM or other version ROM.
5.Wait, wait, wait the stable verson ROM.....

Bummer :( but thanks! So the app installs, but once you connect to the car, nothing happens. And if I open the app while connected, the car display / system just won't see the phone. So far, after doing a thousand things, this is the only kind of signal that the phone tries to communicate with the car, but after this, phone just freezes
my buddy has a car with android auto, i can try that when i see him and let you know.
