I have been using Evolution x 4.6 till now and the experience has been wonderful but as they have stopped pushing updates,so for a change I thought I should try MIUI 12 as well....

And my observation till now is like this :

Pros:

1. Fingerprint is working accurately but bit slow
2. Rom is very fast and snappy
3. So many additional features and customisations

Cons:

1. Apps like compass, notes, scanner, themes and weather are of no use as they can be downloaded from any third party. Infact they would far better compare to these.

2. Some really basic features are missing like ( available on stock rom ):
- Unable to change screen size
- Can't change gesture duration on full screen gesture

This is all for now, I may use this rom for few days even though I am used to using snappy gesture all the time and this is really frustrating to pull the gesture from right side to all the way left and that too for really long duration, I can't do that.

I can understand the hard work that is required to maintain a rom but atleast provide the basic stock rom features so that no one regrets their decision of switching rom.

1) You could root your phone and uninstall any app you wish
2) a. No screen resolution, but you have the "elements" and "font size" options
b. I don't have that problem you're saying... i use gestures too, but don't have to do that "all the way" gesture you said

Actually it's not a bug but it gives you more accessibility that way, right now I am forced to use fluid navigation gesture app.

I know I can root my phone but what you think is more convenient, people rooting their phone to remove unnecessary apps or just simply installing what is necessary for them.

Again Screen resizing is personal choice as some people like me loves everything in desktop or tablet view, so you cannot argue upon that...
Infact just now I discovered something that I can't download super live wallpapers from home screen.

I just got the phone and I would like to use MIUI12 on it as I am used to it, AndroidOne is very limiting.

So my Android is Android 9 - I have notification for 2020 December security update, I presume that's android 10?

so if I understood correctly, when I install December 2020 update I have to:
  • Install custom recovery (TWRP/SHRP)
  • download version of this ROM which I want to install (20.11.25 - this is latest one without issues, right?)
  • Flash the ROM (from the 1st post):
    • 1. Boot into your custom recovery (TWRP/SHRP)
    • 2. Go to Wipe > Format Data > type "yes" and continue (Skip this step, if you are upgrading from previous version)
    • 3. Flash MIUI ROM zip
    • 4. Reboot to system.

And that's it, all dandy, right? Anything else I have to pay attention to?

I am asking this as I am a bit cautious and I don't want to brick the phone!

Hey guys, please help!

The rom seems to work all in all without bugs, but the RAM USAGE is tremendous HIGH.

3 out of 4GB are used. Whats wrong with the Memory Management. Gboard is using 200mb ram, instead 50 for exampe.. Did i broke something? thankss!!

Second question:

How to remove this padding gap??

Differences of MIUI Stable & Weekly Beta

MIUI Weekly Beta - is the most relevant, innovative and up-to-date, as it receives all the innovations first. This firmware is was created for advanced users to test innovations. It is updated every week, usually on Friday, except for Chinese holidays and the presence of serious bugs, when developers delay the release of the update. However, do not be afraid, if you run into a mistake, most likely, next Friday it will be eliminated. And many users use the weekly firmware without worrying about bugs. The release name of the development firmware is the date of its release. For example, the latest firmware is now called MIUI 12 20.10.15, which means that it was released on October 15, 2020. The first figure is the year, the second is the month, the third is the day.

MIUI Stable - is the main assembly and is a kind of standard: it is stable, all functions are debugged and optimized in it, all the bugs that are found in the weekly firmware are fixed. It is recommended to install it, if you do not seek all the innovations and related bugs, This firmware not contains latest features as MIUI weekly beta. but you need a stable system without surprises. The name of stable firmware versions is not tied to the release date, but to the accumulated updates, so it is updated irregularly. Updates can come just in two weeks, and every three months.

Clean flash is recommended. If you move between stable and beta firmware.
