If I'm understanding correctly what's missing for you is the folder preview which, although technically a thumbnail, is not a thumbnail regarding other settings. The thumbnail parameter to which you refer in the bookmark advanced settings controls thumbnails of the individual files; Similarly there is the View > show thumbnails setting. I don't know if those are prerequisites for the folder preview but it makes sense to leave those enabled until sorting out the folder preview

Coincidentally the developer may be working on a tweak for folder preview over SMB share in recent beta versions, in response to a recent request which you may be able to find in this thread and the main thread. The user that requested recently reported that it was working. You may find those posts by searching this thread and the main thread for recent posts mentioning folder preview and SMB share. You can find out more of the history of that request by reviewing that user's recent posts. There are also some posts from last year from someone who was seeking to do the same thing but it may not be worth digging into those if the new fix works for you.

My unrooted phone has both a main memory and a removable micro sdcard. The phone just went through an unexpected ota system update from android 10 to android 11. Now the mix app shows my removable micro sdcard as empty. It can read my main memory fine but the micro sdcard is blank.

What do I need to do to restore access to the removable sdcard?

I solved it myself. Apparently the system update 'ejected' the micro sdcard. When I remounted it, all is well.
(In case someone else comes across the same problem).

Thanks for doubling back to share the fix. Also, that's a good and relatively safe troubleshooting step to take for some issues people and it ties into some other stuff so now it's part of a new paragraph in this post

When troubleshooting access to an SD card this is an easy and relatively safe step: confirm that the drive is mounted. Also, check the basic mount details, and that the OS can see it. In some cases it may need to be mounted manually or it may be helpful to un-mount it then and remount it or even remove then reinsert the card. Note: If you are using External SD as "adopted" storage then it may not be advisable to fiddle with mounting and removing the card. There are safer steps for that below."

Hi, I'm using this app for several months
But now I have a problem, mixplorer can't access SD card whenever I try to make folder to get permission it always failed. Also it says no item RW, but if I check with google files I can see the items in it but no with mixplorer.
Is there any solution for this issue? I already search for some tips but nothing works so far.

I'm using cusrom cherish os decrypted, a13 and rooted in Redmi note 10 pro.

Come on groover, you have posted in a thread thats called Q&A and FAQ, do some reading please, logging, do whatever you are trying to do with the sdcard then go to the 3dot menu then send log, post it up for people to have a look at whats failing and should hopefully be able to help troubleshoot

Settle down Sparky. JK. Disclaimer: Sparky is not pejorative nickname, I once had a parakeet named Sparky which I was fond of but which was energetic and sometimes got ahead of itself. Humor aside, but to the point of not getting ahead of ourselves, it could be a waste of time for people to dive into the log and test on your behalf without having some assurance that you actually did try the suggested workarounds.

To that point, you only mentioned attempting the one particular workaround a which happens to be first in the list and there's no indication that you tried the others. In fact it would be reasonable for a reader to surmise that you only tried the suggestion from the post on this page and did not actually go to the troubleshooting post to try the other suggestions.

Additionally, the one you mentioned is least likely to rectify your situation and some of the others may be important. In particular I suggest trying these selected things in the order presented and then sharing what is the result at each step.

See these sections:

1) Confirm that MiX has required Android permissions.

2) Issues with SD as adopted storage, and possibly other cases, sch as after an OS update there may be the need to redo some permissions

3) Alternate Paths

If none of those work then it may indeed be time to dig into the log and possibly report it in the main thread. If that is the case then it might also help to log sessions where those workarounds have been attempted. When sharing alarms also share detailed list of the steps you took to reproduce the problem.

[EDIT] the log indicates that you are rooted and have created document providers for the /android/data,obb directories and for the root of external storage. I'm surprised that you are allowed to create that document provider; try creating a document provider for the location where you are trying to add a folder. Also, another important detail, share specifically what folder you are creating and where as that may speak to the limitations as well.

Tried everything I know, from using magisk module no restrictions, formating the SD card and remount it, reinstall mixplorer with different version, revoke permission and root, and i had tried to reflash the rom yet still no solution this far and decided to ask here.

My issue was somehow mixplorer lose the access to SD card, but files from Google able to display it but mixplorer UI is empty, also I don't create a specific folder, I just make a random empty folder or file to check if somehow there's permission I forgot to permit but nothing.

I'm able for Crud as in the internal storage, no issue but in the SD card section it's totally empty sometimes there's pop up said it doesn't exist.

Edit:

Mixplorer able to display the capacity and how much SD card is used but cannot display the item in SD card.

If my time was precious I wouldn't be maintaining this FAQ and trying to help you. In fact due to the way you bypass due diligence and refuse to provide adequate information about what you actually tried to do and what the effect was, the "precious" spotlight could easily swing your way, so let's leave the snark out of it. :|

If you think you have to re flash the ROM or format the SD card to fix this then you are outside the scope of MiXplorer. Not that there could be no possible fix within MiXplorer nor do I mind you discussing potential OS and ROM factors here, but if you're going all over the place doing that stuff like that then it is harder to diagnose what is happening in MiXplorer because each time it's a different set of circumstances, which makes details even more significant.

In other words: If the ride down the road is bumpy and that is because something might be wrong with the car then you don't start tearing up and rebuilding the road before establishing whether or not there is an issue with the car.

If you think this is an issue with MiXplorer then please post it in the main thread with a log and details about what you did while creating the log (as described post 7 of this thread). If you think it's not a MiX issue worth reporting directly to the developer then you're more than welcome to keep hacking away at it here, but within the scope of testing for MiX specific issues more information and detail might be required.

Was this module always installed? Or did you only install the module after you started looking for a solution to the SD-card access problem?

Yeah I also had to edit the server settings to "limit_conns=no"

If I am using them and forget to save, before pressing the x, (exiting), I loose the work I been doing.

Pressing the X? What X? To exit the app after making an edit you would tap or long press the the back button, or tap the left pointing arrow at the upper left, then respond to a prompt asking if you want to save the file. If that is not what is occurring for you then it might help if you describe in specific detail the steps you're taking when reproducing the issue.

By pressing the x i mean closing the app without saving the file, (see attached image).

Actually my question is if the app has autosave....
