The new model does not have tronsmart branded on it! At least from what I've seen on youtube, looking at reviews.
I just received mine today, and it runs great, very quick, only downfall is the weak wifi, very weak.

I got one and I've tried all the drivers on the internet and TPSparky root with no luck. Can get my PC (Win 8 x64) to see the device when it is in recovery, but not when it is booted into android so TPSparky root won't run.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

All specs and benchmarks match up! Many sources have said the branding is gone while others say no. I don't know anymore, but what I received seems to be legit and works great.

Now the link works and I installed it. But is it normal I only have 2gb?? It should have 8gb. But I didnt check in the original firmware so not sure if its hardware related or this firmware?

I can answer about RKRemoteControl. Yes it work. You should install eHomeMediaCenter apk from firmare archive.

Same model as I have - interested to establish if the firmware touted on this thread is viable for this device and an XBMC install
Do-not require 1080 so 720 fine

flashed the firmwire on cs918 with BT and now no wifi, no ethernet and no bt - help!!

installed that firmwire to my cs918 and now no wifi, ethernet or BT. Tryed 4-5 different firmwires - same problem. dont have the stock rom. dont know what to do.

please help (i am new to android and rom and all that...)

According to geekbuying.com the CS918 is the K-R42. Then this should be the stock firmware.
On the same page are the instructions for installing it.

Now that you mentioned bluetooth (overlooked that) it cannot be the K-R42.
I myself have the T-R42 which has bluetooth.
This is the stock firmware for my device.

i will try it when i get home. In your link some one said "CS918 should be the same as K-R42 without bluetooth. but this T-r42 is with bluetooth, so it can’t work on CS918" i hope he is wrong.

good news (for me): i spoke with the chiness seller on aliexpress and explained my problem. He sent me the stock firmware that he puts on the device. i hope it will solve the problem.

I would be surprised if you did, probably you can read rockchip or rk3188 or something like this on the chip, but surely no MK908II. Go to geekbuying page and search for MK908II to see how it looks like.
