MMS and automatic data enable

I noticed that with CM 12.1 I have to manually enable mobile data to send/receive MMS.
(I did not have to do this with Samsung's official 4.4. And I don't remember how it was with CM11.)

Can this be changed, so that MMS get sent/received without enabling data manually?

I don't recall stock working like that, but then I just switched off mobile data at night with Llama or while I was connected to wifi.
As for 12.1, I believe that apps cannot now switch data on/off, for security reasons, as my Llama app now cannot do that. You would have to root & use an app like Llama or Tasker to automate it.
But hopefully someone else with more knowledge than me will know different!!! :fingers-crossed:
