mobile hotspot vs jetpack hotspot

Does a phones built in hotspot feature not have the exact same security features as using a separate hotspot device such as a jetpack? Verizon is saying a phone hotspot is not capable of having secure connections.

That's BS on their part. It is their software that isn't as secure, but still has features to make it be secured.

Now, if you use WiFi Tether root, you get a ton of ways to secure your device.

Anything can be circumvented, especially a WiFi connection. So being secure does not necessarily mean you are completely safe.
