I have answered this question here in gharrington's thread. Please let me know if you succeed or not. But then, the best way is to apply gharrington's 3minit framework, which gives you option to change the background for the status bar as well as the dropdown.

Hey mate.
Your phone isnt an international model so the firmwares are not the same so you cant flash the modded SystemUI.Sprint has there own for the CDMA network.You cant flash the international FW to your phone either or youll screw it.The only way to do it is pull the SystemUI from your ROM and have it modded seperately.

I have problem with your mod aosp lock screen. When screen is going off and some app (chomp or facebook) is open sgs freezing on this screen.
I'm using Omega v43.3

Hey mate. Make a nandroid and flash the system.UI and then the mod you want. It should still work and if not then restore the nandroid. I'm on omega v43.6 and flashed the MR2 UI and it worked fine even though it's for v42.

EDIT: Make sure you are on the v43.5 thats running the 4.2.2 firmware if you want to flash the MB3 system.UI.If you are on v43.5 (4.1.2) then flash MR2 like I did otherwise you will FC your whole phone.
