edit 1: im gonna guess i skipped boot.img...
edit 2: you guys werent joking on really long time...
Edit 3: Yesssss!! Now to find lp Roms. ;)
Edit 4: my note to help others:
If you cannot get adb sideload to work, just flash the patch.SF in TWRP. I am guessing that's why that's there.

Many thanks to @Rottgrub for the great work and all that have posted helpful things here like @johnnywong

If anyone has tested Roms for this mod from the Moto x I am curious on how stable and which ones work.

I don't remember reading this in the thread, and search isn't working for me atm. OP states that 2.4 ghz wifi is working, is anyone's 5 ghz working? I cannot connect to 5 ghz. And what's the consensus for getting active notifications working the best? Seems the moto ones are half baked and then if I disable those and choose ambient display, that doesn't even work.

Edit: Wifi issues for me. Seems like whenever I'm actively using wifi, it is more likely to drop out, and reconnect in a few seconds. Maddening. This from a clean flash, too. Right now I'm still seeing if I feel it's any better than stock 4.4.4. Ultimately new phone time, but just seeing if I can extend this a bit.

Edit 2: Ok so I tried to not have to do a factory reset, but you pretty much have to. As others have pointed out, some of the glitches fixed themselves. My wifi, which was painfully slow and very spotty, is much better. I think I've only seen it disconnect once now. Phone is a bit more fluid as before it was a bit laggy. Basically, if you do this, factory reset is needed, imo.

Can you flash the 4.4.4 radio on this?

Edit: flashed MSM8960PRO_BP_232.55.52.00R from 4.4.4 and seemingly my wifi is better and doesn't choke on itself. Still won't connect to 5 ghz networks, though.

-------------update----------------------
So i went thru the setup wizard and play services failed. i decided that i wasn't going to run the stock 5.1 firmware anyway, i went and grabbed resurrection remix and team black out's clear gapps. installed, and good to go, no problems. :good:

i could not get the patch to install, since my os no longer matched, so i copied the contents of the .zip'd patch to /system, and my hw keys began to function. w00t. that's probably the wrong way to go about it, but i was watching football, and not leaving my couch to google it. ymmv!

-----------new update 12/21/16--------
GPS went AWOL with the moto x modem. it was necessary to

from contents of CFC_obake-maxx_verizon-user-4.4.4-SU6-7.3-release-keys.xml.zip
Code:
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
rebooted, instant gps lock in GPSTest, all other radio related functions work as per usual.
