I just tried and it didn't work. The phone didn't boot and didn't get past the M logo.

Here's what I did:

started with cm72-111204.0310-NIGHTLY-Defy
restored boot and devtree from CM9-ICS-MR0-111207-jordan-KERNEL-2.3.4-Quarx
wiped cache + dalvik
installed cm72-111213.0943-NIGHTLY-Defy+
copied overlay.omap3.so from 4.5.1-134 nandroid to /system/lib/hw (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1285007)

Installed 720p+panorama-defy.zip with above mentioned result (also tried 720p+panorama-defy+.zip).

Might be the build.prop included in the zip which messes things up - and my knowledge is way too limited to fix this myself. Maybe Walter could at least comment if it is at all possible to make this work.

I talked with epsylon. 720p for cm7 need some time. Normal Gingerbread way did not work.

I have a red lens Defy..I am running GGL ROM - GingerbreadGreenLens ROM by Adi4motion, my question is would the defy patch work with the rom.

No, but you could upgrade to cm10.
