No should work with any ROM on your nexus 7

Yes you need to root and have a custom recovery and then you can flash it thru the custom recovery

Might check this out soon, but just a quick question since this is basically max volume - have you noticed any distortion or excess clipping on any particular media yet? Appreciate it.

You won't notice any distortion at the lower volume zips but yes there is some distortion at the higher volume zips at max volume

I have yet to upgrade to 5.0 been busy working on other things going to do it this weekend but the post above says it worked for him on 5.0
