[MOD]Bootanimation4U - Add custom bootanimation to any rom

If /system/bin/bootanimation exists flash the Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only.zip

How to use:

Add bootanimation.zip to /system/media

Flash Bootanimation4U.zip in recovery

Flashed Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only.zip as per instructions, do I also need to flash Bootanimation4U.zip in recovery ? for this to work on my custom rom?

Mi ROM doesn't have samsungani and the bootanimation reads only .qmg, I installed the two .zip and nothing appeared. Also I get an error while executing bootanimation in the Terminal Emulator.

I found it much easier to do this with my Samsung which also used .qmg http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/how-to-create-qmg-boot-animations-t2217795

Run through the tutorial and once you get the hang of it you can download any bootanimation.zip then extract and use the content to create a .qmg boot animation to replace your existing one.

Ok but I don't see what difference it makes. As long as you can have the boot animation you want. Why does format matter?

I don't wish to speak Ill of this mod or its developer but I never got this to work on any Samsung. All ways ended up with blank screen or default android animation.

I got myself a blank screen on my first try (with Gears-Bootanim.zip given in the OP) but looking at the *.png in the zip, I saw that the images do not match my resolution display. So I tried another bootanimation.zip modified desc.txt inside the archive to match my needs (width / height / fps) and it works perfectly on my Galaxy S2.

I have tried what you suggested here but it just got me the default android boot animation instead of what I'd actually installed.

And as I said nothing negative ment towards the dev or the mod I'm sure whatever my issue was it was something I had missed. Converting the boot animation to qmg worked for me though so I merely offered it as a solution as someone may find it useful.

I have a Query ?

This will add the ability to use a custom bootanimation on any rom with any kernel and probably any samsung device.

It has been tested on the Note II but should work with any samsung device that uses samsungani to load boot animations. If it doesn't work for you please post here.

Uses the typical settings bootanimation is at /system/media/bootanimation.zip, this is for those using a stock rom or a rom the dev didn't add it in.

I included the Google Gears bootanimation too. Flash the file in recovery. The attachment is a flashable zip not bootanimation.zip.

The updater-script uses busybox to mount the partitions, so if it doesn't flash correctly install busybox from an app on the play store then try again.

Edited the attachment, now includes the bootanimation binary just in case in bootanimation4u.zip, there is also another one named Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only that only edits samsungani.

If /system/bin/bootanimation exists flash the Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only.zip

How to use:

Add bootanimation.zip to /system/media

Flash Bootanimation4U.zip in recovery

If you want sound add an ogg file named PowerOn.ogg to /system/media/audio/ui, if sound doesn't work be sure /system/bin/samsungpowersoundplay exists if its there it will play sound if not its not included in your rom download it HERE then put it where it belongs and fix the perms which should be rwxr-xr-x

Reboot...Enjoy

I have These Files Already Exist

System-Bin-Bootanimation

System-Media-bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg


Now I have downloaded ( One Plus One Bootanimation.Zip file from another thread ) So I just need to paste this Bootanimation.zip under ( System-Media- Then Just paste it here and give 644 Permission ? or Not ? )

If above mention steps are correct Then Shall I just need to Flash Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only.zip from recovery and reboot ?


Please make me understood if what I have mention is right or do I need to do something else ?


I would really appreciate if you guide me with this ....

It didn't work for me, either. This may work, but the OP isn't extremely detailed or in much of an intelligible order. No offense meant, but it's true. Perhaps there's a language barrier.

I'm guessing you need to check /system/bin to see if you have the bootanimation file, and if so, only flash the bootanimation4usamsungani.zip only, instead of both, but it's not very clear. I just updated BusyBox this morning, so I know that's not the issue.

Perhaps we'll receive a bit more detailed instructions, as the last thing I want to do is download software to convert boot animations.

I can barley see any part of the text field when I was going to make a reply because I got a verizonnnote 4 I can't use ad blocker and so huge flash ads block all the screen, oh well I will try to reply to about a quarter inch of the screen, lol anyway to install a boot animation on a ghetto verizon with the boot loader locked. LOL

Boot Animation on Dn4 V2.1

Hi i am on Dn4 V2.1 with mod 7
I flash bootanimation4u.zip ,install boot animations root and select the animation resize and install it. but now after reboot it is coming blank.
please suggest how can I make it work or how can I get the original animation back?
