Hey guys, very inexperienced in any changing res or anything. I'd like to utilise the 4k that's available, is it simple as using the adb way? Does your fone work normally, ie. Can it make and re eve calls. Is it worth doing?. I'm not a gamer, but I like good resolution.

Hi Bob, hope you are doing well.

I've heard there's an app which works like adb, so you don't have to fiddle around with cables and pc. Can anyone confirm this? But I'm not sure if you can change the resolution & density of the phone using this app.

If you decide to go along with it, do not set the density value go beyond 720 (density 802 isn't compatible with some app). Go ahead, it is so much fun to experiment with this 4K setting and discovering new things. But unfortunately it causes frame drops. Apparently Android isn't optimized for 4K as per said by some people. Personally I love my phone smooth and snappy so I stay with 1080p. Hope this helps.

Regards.

There is, and there are even apps that let you switch resolution without typing in any commands.
Unfortunately, they all require root.

I advise against using the trick, was to use it and not be able to answer the calls.

Luckily, in this trick also puts how to return it to the factory resolution.

Returning to factory resolution, everything returned to normal.

That's a known downside to it :/
Some users reported it working with a DPI setting of 720.
Others used a patched Google Dialer that seems to work with the 4k resolution.

Had tried both the options , neither 720 density nor the patched google dialer works.
Can somebody plz come up with an exact 4k setting with working dialer please !! It has been too long now:(

But this is not 4K resolution as per the topic instructions. I am looking for working apps and dialler on 2160x3840 resolution.
4K means 2160x3840 everything else is not 4k

Loving the all time 4k but the stutter on the lock screen and dialler crash are making me think of reverting back, such a shame as the screen looks incredible and has very little effect on battery

U mean that the 4k resolution is working this way?? Can u plz suggest how can i use the phone app if i want to use 4k ?

Which setting are u using currently?
You could use Phone App normally; problem is the time to take Screenshots and Record Screen (Stock App), the rest, works perfectly... At least in my test.

I leave a see:

Stock res (440dpi):

4K res (880dpi):

I can confirm 4k at full resolution (2160x3840) with DPI at 706 works fine. Dialler working and making calls. The only issue is with the thumbnails when switching apps. Actually after further testing the reason the dialler working as working was due to it already being loaded and cached. The moment I closed it then reloaded it, it broke

I'm thinking of buying XZP, and will change its resolution to QHD , since my Nexus 6P already has QHD display and 1080p seems to be a little insufficient.

I've read all of this thread and now I have two questions.

1. As long as I know, XZP basically runs on 1080p and turns into 4k when running 4k apps such as youtube and gallery.
If I change the phone's resolution into QHD manuall, will that resolution-changing feature keep on running and automatically change resolution into 4k with compatiable apps? Or will it be fixed for QHD?

2. Xzp has 4k display and downscale it by an interger multiple to 1080p. If I change its resolution to QHD(which isn't interger multiple), will it look as clear as native-qhd screens like my 6P?

Thank you for your answer in advance :)
