I tried this on my XZP a few months ago and liked it but the lagging lockscreen was annoying so I changed back to 1080p. The lockscreen stopped lagging right away when I went back.

However, I tried the mod again a few days ago and switched back yesterday, but this time it won't stop lagging even when I have 1080p.

Anyone experienced this?

Are you using a wallpaper for your lockscreen or the default one that looks like glass where you can see your homescreen wallpaper? I use the default and it's smooth when I unlock my phone whereas if I had a wallpaper on my lockscreen it would lag

Yes I was using a wallpaper, when I changed back to a default one it became smooth again, thank you so much! [emoji846]

Too bad, phone dialer crashes everytime after this making Xperia unable to receive or make any calls. But for those who do not use Xperia to make calls, that really does not matter after all.

Hey there,

Daki from www.androidkosmos.de published a short article that the resolution can be changed to 4k by default (so Kudos to you man). As it's in German and not exactly step-by-step, I felt like posting a short how-to.

Step 1: Turn on Developer Options.

- Settings -> About -> Click 5x on Build-Number

Step 2: Allow USB debugging

- Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging [X]

Step 3: Open ADB, (always without the " ofc!)

- Type "adb devices", click on "allow request" on your phone

Step 4: Change Resolution and DPI

- Type "adb shell"
- Type "wm size 2160×3840"
- Type "wm density 807 (after a little tinkering, I found 721 to be the best DPI. Yea, really, 721)"

There is no information so far as to how battery life is affected!

Back to default:

Repeat steps 1-3

Step 4: Change Resolution and DPI (back to default)

- Type "adb shell"
- Type "wm size 1080×1920"
- Type "wm density 403"

Best

IlluX
i dont get whats the difference between PPI and DPI (I understood that PPI means pixels per inch and DPI means "printed" dots per inch
now when i did this mod i checked display settings and it shows 4k, 820 DPI and 403 PPI
how is that?

I recently purchased the XZ premium and was very disappointed with the display quality, so after reading this post I did some research and changed the resolution to 1440x2560 and ppi 640 and the display quality improved a lot, also all the apps are working fine including the stock dialer. I did not use the adb shell command but did it with an app available on play store. Screen shot attached.Screenshot_XZP.jpg

Nice to see! If you can, monitor the battery life over the coming days and see if there is any negative effect or impact on battery life.

Also, how is performance? On par with stock 1080P? Otherwise faster or slower?

Wicked. I don't need to be by a computer anymore. And yes, you do need root. For anyone wondering

Can you please watch this video and tell us if you're experiencing any of the issues mentioned on this great video?

Also what's the battery life like so far?

Many thanks!

Compared to stock resolution, the battery drains just a bit faster, almost unnoticeably so. I get like almost 5 hours sot on a regular basis, no stamina mode or anything. I set wm scaling to off. The phone app does not work in 4k but I installed the patched version of google dialer which does work.

I wonder and wanna try. Damn.
And what is about wm scaling off? For what reason do you turn it off?

Anyone here can give me explanation or way to do this mod (adb) using macOS (High Sierra)?

Already done with this, and i am so shock with the result. It's insane! Damn. But i decided to stick with QHD res, which more stable in almost any apps :)

Awesome! I found 640 to be a bit too big for me, so I changed my PPI to 538 instead. Unfortunately, recents menu thumbnails show black screens. :/
