Quick noob question, right now all my huge obb data files from games like Bards Tale, GTA III etc are on my internal SD card. Once I do this mod, will I have to move all that data to the external SD card or can I leave it as is? Thanks!

Encryption Unsuccessful Screen

Ok I've tried to install this it seems to go ok then I get a message screen after boot animation that says" Encryption Unsuccessful" with a button at the bottom that says "reset tablet" just keeps going back to that screen.

Here's what I did:

format a 10gig partiton on SDcard Ext4 (with mini-partiton tool)
install clean rom 2.3
flash the cleanrom2.3 Data2sd from page 1

reboot, get encryption error msg

Maybe issue with my Ext4 partition?

Thanks

Thanks Gonna try this.

done the work install all three files in the OP, however it is taking a long time to boot....Can someone give me an idea as to how long this normally take onn first bootup after a fresh install?

please advise
tyfoxx
Why install three? You should have used the mod for your current ROM only.
It should take only a minute or so.

I was getting the Encryption Unsuccessful Screen trying to use the other method. May be make sure everything got a good wide.

It will need to get moved to the /data/media folder on the microSD. This is part of the reason I formatted all of my 64gb card in ext4, so I would have all that space for game data and other files. I created a small, 8mb partition that is unformatted, then I created a 64gb partition that is ext4. The first partition is needed because the mod will always mount partition #2 as /data, so that's the one that has to be ext4.

I'm running CleanROM 2.3 and ClemsynTF700ver22GPU650VC (awesome combo, btw). If I want to use this MOD, should I need to flash first CleanROM-2.3-data2sd.zip and later ClemsynTF700ver22GPU650VC-data2sd.zip, right? Of course, also, formating my microSD using ext4.
For now, let's also always format /cache. I'm going to modify my flashable zips to do that here soon. Also, each zip has everything you need, just pick the kernel you want and flash it on top of the ROM. I will make the OP a little more clear here in a minute.

reboot, get encryption error msg

Thanks
same issue here.

edit:
this seems to be important...

2) Create two partitions, both of type "Primary" rather than "Logical" if given the choice. I also set the second partition as "Active". Format this second partition in ext4. It does not matter if the first partition is formatted or unformatted, or what size it is.

did this and now it boots but then resets within 10 seconds.
wiping and reflashing again...

All the files are down, can you reupload please?
You caught me in the process of updating them. Next time I'll wait to delete the files until after the replacements are up.

I updated all the zips to format /cache as part of the process. This is a good idea since we are replacing a system apk. This will help people that are installing the mod over an existing installation not formatting /cache themselves.

Yep that was my issue, I did not have the Ext4 set as primary. After that I kept getting it to boot enter a few set up options only to get a kernel panic and reboot. I totally wiped everything including internal data.

I re-flashed clean rom then wiped cache/dalvic (TWRP) and flashed the clean rom data2sd and it worked this time. (I just chose not to use the overclocked kernel.)

It makes a HUGE difference, Thanks to the OP!!! Great job!!

Starting to get everything set up again, but I have another noob question. I'm running the latest official CM10 nightlies. Do I have to keep reflashing the CM10-Data2SD after each CM10 update?

Also, has anybody been able to mount their full sized SD card in the dock with this mod on CM10?

Sweet TWRP

I have added a recovery-related treat to post #2. Please check it out and let me know what you think!
I've installed this (Thanks btw) and the only thing I see unusual is that the screen keyboard opens even when docked.

I backed up to both internal & external and restored from both with no problem.

Backups took just over a minute and restores just over 3 minutes and included wiping Cache, Dalvik Cache & System.

Thanks for these updates!!!

Thanks for this, I really like the idea of the flash taking care of disabling journaling..and the ability to mount the new sdcardi via USB..but I can't get it to work. What I am seeing after flashing is that journaling on the microSD is still enabled, and the sdcardi directory isn't being created. On boot, it goes into a boot loop. I verified this from adb while in recovery (TWRP 2.3.1.0).
I have tried this several times...with both the overclocked and no overclocked versions....from a total wipe even /system wipe, /data wipe..etc.I even manually disabled journaling through ADB, this killed the reboots and bootloop but still..no joy, no sdcardi directory and the system was unstable and acting real wonky....strange character input in the Play Store...I was trying to get Root Explorer downloaded. Let me know what you need to help troubleshoot if possible. I'm running CleanRom 2.3.

Regards,
Brad

Brad,

Firstly, it's possible that TWRP is the cause of some of your problems. Scott, the author of CleanROM told everyone to use CWM due to TWRP not properly processing the commands to disable journaling. I would switch to that and then follow these troubleshooting steps.

1) Boot into CWM recovery.
2) Flash mount-data2sd.zip
3) Factory reset (wipes /data and /cache)
4) Format /system
5) Flash CleanROM 2.3 ROM package
6) Flash one of the data2sd conversion zips for CleanROM 2.3
7) Boot into Android - Done

Also, the sdcardi folders and symlinks are created by the kernel init in the ramdisk. They should be created if you flashed my the correct zip for your ROM.
