Just use an app from the Play Store called 'Adjbrightness'. No flashing necessary, just root and you have one click control to turn lights off completely.

I have used that, i have to start adjbrightness manually everytime i reboot, with this i dont have to do that.

Care to share your setup of bedside clock? Does the screen glow all night?

Do you have a dock?

I just use an app called dock clock. Yes, the screen stays on all night. No, I don't have a dock. I just lay it flat on my nightstand. Works great since HTC got rid of this clock option in Sense 4.0.

I use the app desk clock plus and just an fyi for anyone I use a plastic business card holder to sit the phone in it's a perfect angle and cheap.

you can also change /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/currents it does the same thing. Just some fyi....

What files or values would I have to change to further dim the LEDs? I don't want them all the way off but as close as possible. Probly like 40% to 20% brightness.

That sucks. One of the buttons is not as bright as the other 2. In fact it is not evenly lit up. It seems like the LED under the screen is either partialy blocked or mis-aligned. I don't want to exchange it as I may get other issues with the new phone.

I hope the root comes out quick enough for all of us stranded on 1.85 island.

What rom are you on? Your kernel may not have init.d support.

You can always install a matching kernel with init.d for the ROM you're on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689824

Or create your own init.d folder and drop it in it.

I would imagine so but with three little LED's, I doubt it'd be a noticeable difference.
