i had to restore my phone, non related to this mod... after restore, flashed this mod again and everything is fine with files :) . That was nice to see.
In restore process, cwm was not reading the card, but twrp had no problems with it :)

testing 64GB SDXC cards and UHS speeds

Great news, i'm using a 64Gb formatted FAT32 ... gonna give it a try!

Hi I'm interested in if you are able to test some performance for us. Many of the 64GB cards out there are UHS-1 speed capable (up to 100MB or so) compared to the slow SD class 10 speeds (min 10MB or so)

I'm interested if the 64GB cards under the exFAT system perform any differently in copy speeds to or from PC and so on. basically - I want to tell if i shoudl spend the extra money on the UHS-1 speed cards or not.

thank you!

Bought a Bought a SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC Class 10 UHS-I 64GB.
After applying the exFAT mod I tested using A1 SD Bench:

53.18 Mb/s Read
27.11 Mb/s Write

I didn't test with FAT32, but the results should be similar to the ones here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2178138
Benchmarks aside, the USB copy speeds are usually around 10-15MB/s, so it's no high speed monster really.
I'm running rooted stock 10.1.A.1.350 with locked bootloader.

Odp: [MOD] exFAT support for Xperia Z(non-Japanese verisons)

might not work.. the exFAT module may have to be recompiled to Xperia Play kernel sources... our Xperia Play is still on 2.6.32 kernel remember ;)

Could you tell me what do i have to do to get it to work on xperia play or there is too much to do to get it working?

I noticed TWRP freezes while SD card is inserted in the phone. As soon as i click "install" option in TWRP, phone hangs... Backup and restore works normally. When i remove SD card , everythings fine . Anyone else have this problem with cards formated to exfat ?

not working with the newest firmware on the c6603...

Assuming you got the following message.
sh: tar file not found
I got the same - it's not the exFAT MOD's fault but busybox's. Do the following:
And don't forget to thank m0b!

EDIT: Anyone get spontaneous SD card removes with this mod when Wifi is on?

The MOD changed init.qcom.wifi.sh by adding the following:
insmod /system/lib/modules/nls_utf8.ko
# Tuxera exFAT
insmod /system/lib/modules/texfat.ko
So the exFAT modules get loaded, however the same file also contains this text:
# This script will load and unload the wifi driver to put the wifi in
# in deep sleep mode so that there won't be voltage leakage.
# Loading/Unloading the driver only incase if the Wifi GUI is not going
# to Turn ON the Wifi. In the Script if the wlan driver status is
# ok(GUI loaded the driver) or loading(GUI is loading the driver) then
# the script won't do anything. Otherwise (GUI is not going to Turn On
# the Wifi) the script will load/unload the driver
# This script will get called after post bootup.
Considering that insmod is a really 'dumb' and un-robust command, as opposed to modprobe, I think this is causing sudden SDcard removes.
That or my SDcard is simply dying. Could anyone confirm?

EDIT2: Wifi off and no SDcard removes since, but I still need confirmation.

Developed by SquallATF from a Chinese forum:

1.ROOT your phone and backup your external SD card!

2.Download the .ZIP file(here or here) and extract

3.Connect your phone to PC and run runme.bat

4.When asked for ROOT in your phone, choose YES, it will be done in a few secs(if something wrong shows up like "tar invalid tar magic“, try with another Busybox because the latest version messup with Tar file sometimes) and then phone will reboot

5.After reboot, disconnect your phone, go to settings->Xperia->Connectivity> USB Connection Mode, choose MSC and reconnect your phone to PC

6.Format external SD card to exFAT and disconnect your phone

7.Go to settings->Xperia->Connectivity> USB Connection Mode, choose MTP

Tested in my Xperia Z C6602 and works very well.

i can use this for XZL 4.2.2 ?
    if yes please confirm.

Are you sure the ZL hasn't had exFAT support patched in with the 4.2.2 update? I believe the Z now has exFAT support, so I cannot understand why they wouldn't do the same for the ZL.

It's not working for me. Is there a way to install it manually? By copying the file on the system folder?
Try this! It also should work with new busybox. I just used .tar (not .tar.gz) and translated bat-file :silly:

btw this module is loading properly on my kernel... so i guess it should work on my kernel...

someone please test and let me know... send me a p.m. with testing results
