Ok guys, I know i left y'all hanging with my other thread with the custom launcher...BUT!! this one is fully working with native Ouya launcher.
You can log in, buy games, re-download games you may have bought on your ouya already and so on. its your ouya now in your hands :)

All files provided have been release in some form already so i hope i dont get banned for them...
Most are from different SDKs. I just found the right mix and how to make them run by directly inserting them to System.

All files MUST be transferred directly to the System/App folder of the shield, you CAN NOT install them as User Apps then move them to System/App. it will not work this way!!

Download Link http://www.mediafire.com/download/g8hdkw2xr92z9pa/Ouya_files.zip

1). Extract zip to a location on your shield.
2). Use ES File Explorer to manually move the files to System/App
3). Reboot your Shield.
4). Select OUYA Launcher form Home Screen selection.
5). Create/Log in to an account.
6). Enjoy this little mod!!! ;)

I strongly recommend having Xposed Installer and App Settings installed on your device.
Set the OUYA Launcher DPI to 200 - 230 to fit the Shields screen correctly.

I can't seem to get this working. I transfer the files to system/app then reboot but after my shield reboots I'm not getting any options to use the launcher

Try installing the launcher apk as a user app also. (having both one as system and one as user)
or go into your apps and manually start it and or OBBE.

When I go to install the launcher apk it just says app not installed and if I try to launch it from the system/app folder it tells me there was a problem parsing the package so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here

Try downloading again. Cannot parse is usually an incomplete apk
I've downloaded 3 time and still nothing maybe there's errors in the upload

Try this one without being zipped. Something might of happened while uploading the files.

It looks as all the apk are corrupt. Should look like this with icons.
They look like yours after I unzip them but as soon as I move the files to my system/app folder they look like the pic I posted earlier so idk what the deal is

I tried solid explorer instead of esfile explorer and they look like yours now but I'm not getting an option for the launcher anywhere

What firmware are you running? I downgraded back to 4.3 because of the KitKat emulation slow downs. And I know ouya runs 4.3, maybe that's the problem.

That's prob it I'm on 4.4 maybe I'll downgrade later and try again. Are there really any benefits of it?

Well there are several free full games not available on the google play store in their shop and a few that are free to ouya only, like Order & Chaos. Most games work with shield controls also. And its a pretty nice launcher for the shield.

You could always grab the ZipSigner from Google Play and see if it's just a signature issue. Android has been tightening up security.
That's probably a good idea has anyone tried that yet. I hate to downgrade just put ouya launcher on and not even like it.

One thing I did notice that wasn't mentioned is that you have to change the permissions of all 4 of those files to match all the other apk files in the system app folder. I did this and keep getting a force close might be a couple of reasons I am looking into it.

I didn't change permissions on mine though, just injected the apks, rebooted and it launched into the ouya launcher when I selected it. But I did clear cache and dalvik in recovery before rebooting. Which lead to the "Android Apps Are Upgrading" screen.

Also go to settings and manually set up an Ouya account in accounts before starting the launcher. See if that helps.

Still not working for me most likely me being on 4.4. I may downgrade sometime and try it again though.

question time!

i know amazing frog extracted from the ouya works on shield, but with the ouya mod, do games that I extracted before(dub wars, the ball, and others) work?, or is this problem because of the developers coding to the ouyas Bluetooth module?

---------- Post added at 10:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 PM ----------

also tried connecting the ouya controller to shield to see if it would work with the extracted ouya games, but it doesn't, its the same as playing gta3 or vice city with the controller, its all wonky, and doesn't work properly, try it for yourself and you will see!
