I wish we could improve the quality of the jpg from normal pictures. As someone mentioned earlier, I feel like the camera on the i9505 is being held back.

It won't. All mods in this threads are based on 4.2.2 camera.apk.

If you just want to improve the jpg quality, I think you can edit the jpg compression value to all 100 in media_profiles.xml, try it and report to us if it works.

Video bitrate on the other hand, it seems required to modify the camera.apk to make it real works, you can't just modify the bitrate value in media_profiles.xml.

This mod is discontinued, OP already sold his GS4. We're now stick to 4.2.2 only until someone else continue this project(hopefully).

Shame it. The sales of GS4 is too low, there are just too little devs here. I'm thinking to get a GS5 because of this reason.

Some awesome stuff with the camer mod going on in this forum, with that being said I have a couple of questions, they are as follows: I am running "Insane Kit Kat rom" with the latest of everything 4.4.2 Android version. My device is the usa variant of the T Mobile samsung galaxy s4 SGH-M919. I would like to know if this mod is compatible with my phone? If so do i flash one of the mods in the OP or do I strip the camera apk file from the zip file and paste it to my system/app folder with fixing permissions?

I think you are right about the video bitrate. I changed the values in media_profiles.xml but it still doesn't change the way the camera takes video in term of bitrate.

No chance for this on the i9505 I assume? Video compression can be pretty bad at times :/
