Custom binary is like a counter that shows your device has been tampered with e.g flashing custom recovery, roms n such. It is used by vendor (samsung in this case) to know that u have 'broken' the guarantee seal (if it's still under warranty) n as an excuse to reject your claim. My method described above will not raise your binary count

Use triangleaway apk which you can find on XDA to remove triangle and rest binary counter :)

Thanks metalgearhathway for excellent MOD:cowboy:...so no more error 'insufficient storage':good:..just tiny bit problem is that SD memory get reduced ..hence only limited game can be installed due to their nature of downloading extra file on SD ( EA and gameloft etc)..one solution could be to SWAP internal SD with external SD card ..wanted to confirm whether that can be done after PIT modification...

Hello,

Is there a chance of getting a hard bricked device or a downsized internal storage following this procedure? Don't mind losing data -- actually I'd love wiping any old files -- picture libraries, music, and so on.

Thanks!

It worked for me.

Steps:
1. Flashed n7000 16gb variant - 6gb data.pit AND PhilZ-cwm6-UBLS4-TCE-4.35.tar.md5 through Odin3 v3.04
2. Flashed N7000UBLSG_N7000ZTOLS3_N7000UBLS4_HOME.tar.md5 (Brazil 4.1.2 stock, no-carrier) through Odin3 v3.04
3. Reboot and after checking storage configuration, I was still seeing 2GB of app storage, but with reduced internal user data storage (around 7GB);
4. Flashed PhilZ-cwm6-UBLS4-TCE-4.35.tar.md5 again (without the PIT file; re-partition option disabled)
5. Formatted /data, /system, /preload, and did some wipes (don't remember exactly the wipe option)
6. Flashed N7000UBLSG_N7000ZTOLS3_N7000UBLS4_HOME.tar.md5 again
7. Reboot and now it shows nearly 6GB of app storage

I tried to be the most verbose possible to avoid some ambiguity.

Hello. I would just like to simplify things a little. You can flash the PIT file and the stock firmware together in odin. After that use the 3 button combo to reboot to stock recovery, then just do factory wipe reset in recovery. After that reboot to system n press yes when prompted to format sd card and everything's fine. Reboot again to recovery n flash phils ZIP version and u'll be rooted with phils recovery without yellow triangle. Cheers

Thanks. Is it my impression or after flashing the PIT file I'm unable to flash anything through CWM or TWRP? I always get a Status 7 error saying that the custom kernel expected n7000, galaxynote, etc and it found just '' (empty string device name). I even tried the procedure descripted in this topic:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522762

It basically says to delete the assert on the kernel installation script which verifies the target device. Even removing that assert, I still can't install any custom kernel. Can this have ahything to do with the PIT file (maybe it's where the device name is recorded)?

Thanks!

Hello. I'm sorry to say that I don't really understand the technical stuff you mentioned above. Stock recovery wasn't mean to accomodate flashing customized stuff that's why u must install/flash a compatible recovery such as CWM/TWRP before flashing anything else. The easiest method is by using PhilZ-cwm6-XXxxx(xxx=BUILD NO.)-ATL-5.15.0-signed.ZIP which roots your phone n give it a very user friendly CWM custom recovery. Basically, after flashing the PIT n the stock firmware, wait until it's completed, then reboot to recovery using the 3 button combo, do a Factory wipe reset in the recovery, reboot to system, after rebooting, format sd card when prompted, reboot again to recovery n flash the phil's I mentioned above and you can either :

1. Stick with rooted stock rom or
2. Flash any custom 4.1.2 JB based roms or
3. Update your recovery to 6.0.4.5+ and flash any KK based Roms.

Finally seeing this thread after passing my 2 yrs+ Note1 to my dear daughter about 6 months ago!!!! My note was currently with SuperNexus 2.0 custom ROM and CWM recovery. Worth to try it and just want to check if the following procedure is correct:

1) Run compatible version of Odin, put your phone in to download mode (vol down/home/power button) and connect to PC via USB.

2) Tick re-partition box

3) Click PIT button and select the pit file of your desired app partition size.
In this case, I choose "n7000 (16gb)_4,6,8,10,12gb.zip".

4). Click "Pit" and "Start Button"

5). When Odin displaying "Pass!". Let the phone auto reboot to the Supernexus main screen. Not sure if the phone will be going back to the main screen. If stop at the android chap finishes his spinny wire ball belly animation, will just remove the battery and wait for few second.

6). Put back the battery and pressing "Volume up + Home button + Power button" to go into CWM recovery mode.

7). Now select clear cache to clear system cache, and dalvik cache under Advanced. Now go back to recovery menu and select Wipeout to wipe the data. (located in Advance menu)

8). Choose my "Jelly Bean 4.2 SuperNexus zip" file and the "Google Apps package zip file" and install it.

9). Reboot into System and verify the Internal SD Data App partition.

Please follow OP procedures below to avoid any mishaps.

IMPORTANT: Please backup all your photos, videos and other important stuff on your PC, in the cloud or somewhere else where it is safe, as all your stuff on your internal SD card will be deleted!

1) Run compatible version of Odin, put your phone in to download mode (vol down/home/power button) and connect to PC via USB

2) Tick re-partition box

3) Click PIT button and select the pit file of your desired app partition size.

4a) Click PDA and select your stock official samsung jellybean rom - Edit- please remember if you use a rom that is not native to your region, it would be wise to flash the appropriate radio modem afterwards to ensure you get the signal strength you'd expect

4b) OR Flash your personal choice of kernel in *.tar format and pit file, reboot to CWM ( power button/vol up/home button) and install new rom or restore nandroid and boot as normal and skip to number 9 in this guide

5) Flash and wait for reboot

6) Let the phone reboot and wait until the android chap finishes his spinny wire ball belly animation and then remove the battery and do a factory reset using the usual power/vol up/ home trick.

7) Let it boot so you can check that you are happy with the result. ( I didn't, but you might want to)

8) Now flash your chosen rooted kernel and either stick with stock rom or enter CWM and flash your own custom rom.

9) When your phone boots, you may get a notification to format usb storage, say yes if prompted! If it that fails, connect you phone to your PC and format the the internal sd card manually.

Hello,

Thank you for this tuto.

Wanting to increase the memory system (2gb, by default) in 4 gb, I used the following file: http: // forum.xda-developers.com / attachment.php? Attachmentid=2860219*d=1405803902 with no problem at all.

But, I chose the good file to try Rom such as slimkat, omnirom, cyanomogenmod, spirit....

If I understand well, the file http: // forum.xda-developers.com / attachment.php? Attachmentid=2593088*d=1393019435 in a preload partition reduced which does not suit to all the Rom.

Now, you should not better use the file quoted in first, more universal even if it do not use the preoload partition?

Thank you

bonjour,

Merci
