Hello,

Thank you for this tuto.

Wanting to increase the memory system (2gb, by default) in 4 gb, I used the following file: http: // forum.xda-developers.com / attachment.php? Attachmentid=2860219*d=1405803902 with no problem at all.

But, I chose the good file to try Rom such as slimkat, omnirom, cyanomogenmod, spirit....

If I understand well, the file http: // forum.xda-developers.com / attachment.php? Attachmentid=2593088*d=1393019435 in a preload partition reduced which does not suit to all the Rom.

Now, you should not better use the file quoted in first, more universal even if it do not use the preoload partition?

Thank you

bonjour,

Merci
Yes. It's better to use universal file if you like to change rom frequently.

EDIT: I thought about my questions for a bit and realised they were both tooo dumb to require an answer ... I have repartitioned now, what a relief, I wish I'd done it ages ago. Big thanks to the OP :)

Hi. Really dumb question - I am currently running stock 4.1.2, and while I really want the extra app space, I don't want to end up rooted. Can I just follow the guide in the original post, but stop after step 7? So, I 'd have changed the partition size but would otherwise still have a totally stock device?

Also, can I just confirm that leaving my external SD card in the phone during the partition change would not be a problem - the card would not get formatted, and it's contents would not get changed in any way?

TIA

Its so owesome thread. Tq. Just to make me clear before proceed with this tuto. Im currently using stock rom deodexed 4.1.2jb and i was repacked it to suite my own use in future. I also use PhilZ-cwm6-DXLSE-OLB-5.06.1-signed.
In my device ive preload folder and have deleted some useless apps there (i mean ive repack it for my own use), is it mean i was in #Beware 1 like in op said?
From what ive read (newbie reading), this tuto look like for custom rom only. Make me believe this is for stock rom also.
And if it is true for stock rom also, can i use my own repack rom for the 8th step in op?
Thanks?

got into a bootloop. :(

I was using the Ultimate N7000 v6 rom with the 4gb PIT.
Wanted to totally reformat the phone because I was supposed to give it to my girlfriend.
Did a total wipe of the device, and reflashed the rom. weird thing, the internal sd was not being recognized, it wanted to format it, I chose the option, it looped with the checking sd.
I flashed the stock PIT instead, bam! bootloop.
kept Odin Flashing the stock pit and rom, still in bootloop.

I'm doomed. -_-

Edit:
woohoo! got it working again!
shut it down, 3 finger salute for recovery, flashed Philz, then shut it down again, 3 finger salute, got into CWM, flashed a new rom and rebooted.
working ok now!
gonna check for the internal SD's health in a bit.

worked great

I finally decided to go for a custom rom, as Lanchon was kind enough to add trim suport back to our devices. I flashe the pit file for 6gb then imediately after flashed CM11 and he's kernel.

I had to format sdcard0 from the recovery, but after that, the rom and the kernel installed just fine. I'm booting kitkat for the first time in my life right now. And I Hope trim solves my problems as I was about to smash this phone to a wall because it becomes way to unresponsive without trim.

The added space in the data partition will help me play those stupid telltale games that insists on installing the extra episodes to the /data partition.

good stuff! this is exactly why I made these pit files :)

as for custom ROMs. I like them but I do like the Samsung proprietary stuff that is omitted, so I favour the stock experience with neatrom and then I add all the features in using xposed with the wanam, gravity box and xposed additions. if you have never done that before it's well worth it :)

I have a question ... I have a N7000 with ICS 4.0.4 branded H3G Ita. I was never able to update to 4.1.x, so, may I do all at once ??? Partition and upgrade to the latest stock rom ???

It is not rooted ...

But before doinf everything I would like then to be able to have all the apps installed as they are now. What would be the best way of doing it ???

Cheers

Yes you can. Partition with the PIT file u want and 4.1.2 firmware together. Sadly u can't have your apps installed the way it is unless you backed them up either with google or any back up apps as you have to reboot recovery and do a factory reset after flashing thr 4,1.2 FIRMWARE. And format sd after booting to main screen.

thanks in advance.
Stock firmware comes with the divided partition for system memory (default at 2 GB) and the rest (at about 11 GB) for internal memory. For every application you installed, a portion of the system memory is used until u can't install anymore apps due to lack of memory. Moving to sd card will still use the system memory for executional purposes. This MOD allows u to INCREASE your system memory THUS allowing you to install more apps as you now can go beyond the 2 GB default limit.

Yes you can direct flash this mod through odin. Just make sure to back up your internal sd as you will have to format it after flashing.

PLEASE Read the instructions CAREFULLY.
