Hi @metalgearhathaway / All,

Wonder if someone could be give me some quick advice please... I am wanting to partition my N7000 phone, as 2Gb for Apps/Apps Data is simply not enough. And despite trying to find an SD-Ext (2nd Partition) solution for a while now, it seems our device simply doesn't support this method... So only way to go is to re-partition.

I'd like to allow (or expand) my current /Data partition from 2Gb, upto 4Gb.... I won't need any more than that.

However, the bit I'm confused about, is whether to have Pre-Load or not Pre-Load? As most of the time (99%) I will be using various custom roms. From official CyanogenMod CM9 (rare, but for old times sake) upto JellyBean, KitKat and of course Lollipop roms. Now and again, I'd like to flip back to stock, just to see how things were... I think in the part I've used a DeOdexed (if thats the right term) version of a Stock. But as I flash a mates S2 with stock through Odin not so long ago, might even try official Stock via Odin....

So, main question / answer I seek.... Is there a PIT file I can use / need, that gives me my 4GB of /Data that allows me to flash all the custom roms, but also to allow me to switch back to Stock should I need too....?? Or do I have to flash the Stock Pit to ONLY allow stock installations...??

(Edit: from which Zip package would I need to use please)

I assume, flashing Stock Pit back to phone fully restores it back to (like now) 100% as Samsung originally created it....

By flashing these PIT files over a time, will it cause the device to lose storage...?
Will it eventually kill that Flash Disk...?
And is it fully eMMC safe?

Many thanks for your help.... Lister

Dead phone!! :(

Hi All,

Brilliant, I now have my 4Gb /Data partition....

.... but I also have a semi non-working phone!!!! :crying:

It created my 4GB Data partition, but failed to create the rest of the internal SD Card

1) Android OS did not prompt me to format it on booting of the OS.

2) Windows does not see it when connected, to format it...

3) Android Settings reports as 0 bytes free

4) TWRP throws up loads of errors about mounting it, and eMMC errors....

Smashing.... dead phone for New Years Eve.... :crying:

Cheers, Lister

No ! beacause i can't mount this partition, so i can't format it.
Have you try to connect to your PC and format internal SD. I have the same problem, and somewhere here I read about it and after format with PC everything is ok

I had the same problem and I fix it with format with PC but I don't remember all the steps. Are you sure you have all usb drivers install. I found my solution here, so make search for "emmc mount error "

Hi All,

So there's no different between a Pre-Load PIT, and a NON Pre-Load Pit....??

I can just flash either...??

Thanks, Lister
Hai Lister, even though u already solved it, I just want to say that there IS a difference between a preload n non-preload PIT. All Samsung based Rom has a preload partition (@500 mb) while AOSP roms and newer unofficial custom roms has that disabled. The difference just lies in that IF u want to claim back that extra 500 MB for your custom roms (KK based). For me I flashed the non preload one which enables me to switch back and forth between stock and custom roms. Should u flash the preload PIT, if u want to revert back to stock based then you will have to flash the non preload PIT otherwise u will have problems. (ALL This is stated in the OP though)

Cheers.

Hi @Jackwu696,

Aye, no I'm glad you've still replied... Even though I have now sorted it, and solved my memory shortage issue by use of PITs and got it to work in the end. I've been asking for days about various memory storage issues, and solutions and everyone got ignored (not necessarily in the N7000 threads) and when asked about the PIT method, was still over a day or so before anyone posted in the thread, even though it wasn't in relation to my query. I thought for a thread with as many pages in replies, yet no one seemed to share any info... I'm used to waiting, but as I've re-built my phone many many times over during festive season, due to other failed work-arounds for lack of storage, I kinda hoped for an answer sooner, as was going out that night and needed it working... / I'm used to waiting normally.. :)

Even though it was all explained in the original post, I just thought the way it was worded, left me a little confused... As it seemed to suggest to me the same thing, both a PreLoad PIT or not... seemed to end in same result. And so was confused as to which I needed, if I wanted to flash (or return) to a stock rom. I thought if I chose the one with a smaller (but still EXISTANT) PreLoad, that I would have more chances... From your information, it turns out I was wrong...

Wished I had seen your advice before I flashed the previous PIT, as it now makes more sense to me.... Unfortunately I went with the PIT that had a 45MB PreLoad, and a 4GB /Data partition. So now if I flashed a Stock Rom (beit official Stock from Sammy, or a DeOxed Custom Stock) I'm gonna run into issues...

So would you advise, if I ever wished to return to factory firmware stock... That I now need to flash a PIT with NO PreLoad and then flash Stock PIT. Or can I just flash Stock PIT without anything else before hand...?? In future, I will just flash NON-PreLoad as it's not needed for any ROMs other than official stock, and even then ya need the STOCK PIT layout, and not the reduced PreLoad PIT....

I am ever so grateful for these PITs, and it is easier (NOW) than I had first thought.... Actually makes our N7000's more useful again.... :)

Many thanks, Lister
