Raw kernel is not available as .tar for Odin, only as flashable zip for recovery.
would you be able to help recommend to me on how to proceed with this partition without the .md5 or .tar kernel? the reason why i was insisting on the raw kernel was because i'm on Asylum and my approach was to flash the PIT file via odin and restore asylum via TWRP via the raw kernel.

can i only flash the PIT file in Odin (without anything in PDA field) and then flash raw kernel via recovery? although im not sure how to get into recovery if i dont have TWRP or CWM.

just a quick question....i was about to add the raw kernel in the PDA field (in Odin), but the raw kernel was in .zip format. where can i get a TWRP raw kernel that is .tar or .md5 format? or am i misunderstanding the directions?

Hello metalgearhathaway, your a great job, it was something that we fans of modding our notes we were missing. I downloaded your file and I have to try them both on a rom preload, Sfattucci to that of a normal, which ones of kmokhtar79, both stock. Just today on another forum user had a need for this type of situation and I have addressed you on this thread. Thank you and we hope that it works on my smartphone. See you soon. :good: ;) :silly:

OP UPDATED! NEW PITS ONLINE!

New PIT's up! 4gb, 6gb and 8gb now supported. I have also created special versions freeing up 450mb from preload, this is added to the internal SD card partition.

Please note - The preload modified version not suitable for Samsung Stock roms, it will work with many custom roms, but you need to check with the author of your custom rom first, as some do use preload, not many, but you are best to check first! I can tell you that Slim Roms and Cyanfox do not use preload.....

Enjoy!

It was too good to be true. The message formatting the mass memory remains, and therefore there is a risk that after setting up for the good notes, maybe over by the command, and you thought the format it by erasing everything you have. Then taking from 2 to 4 GB system memory, internal memory disappears to approximately 11 GB and finally the external Sd by most programs is not seen even if it is correctly fitted. Too many problems for now, so I restored the normal pit and put the rom that I had saved my Nandroid backup (Arya Rom v4.5). We hope that we can resolve these issues, which are annoying to hold. Thanks anyway :crying:

After flashing the pit file I rebooted and the note still showed a data partition of 2g. Rebooted into recovery and used cwm to restore a backup of my data partition and rebooted. Now the partition size was 4g (sweeeeet). Finally my note is stable and fun to use again. This should allow me delay upgrading my phone for quite some time. Probably will only upgrade when I am sure that this method will work on the new phone.

I solved the problem, there was certainly something that I jumped and gave me those errors. I installed the pit 6GB and goes a wonder, then mounting the Arya v5 rom. Thanks for your work that many of us to solve a problem whose solution is the sought for some time. Hello and thanks again metalgearhathaway :good: :D ;)

Just some clarification, I'm not very familiar with the flashing process so kindly advise me. Basically the method will be:

1. Root the Note
2. Flash kernel
3. Flash custom ROM
4. Flash pit files

Did I hit it right?

No, flash pit and custom kernel (that should include root) at the same time in Odin. then reboot phone to cwm/twrp and flash your custom ROM :)

Sorry for noob question, but is it possible to enlarge ram to 2gb using a pit file? Probably not but I feel I have to ask to be sure.

Would it be possible to create a pit file with the system partition increased to 1.5gb and the data partition to 4gb for the N7000. I want to convert quite a few apps to system apps as a test and would need the extra space.

well you can somehow enlarge the RAM by using zram from the sd card but sadly no kernel supports it for the note :(
ZRAM != RAM

zram is basically swap: it uses the disk (or in our case the flash drive) as an allocation point for memory. It is MUCH slower than RAM and it is detrimental to the flash drives we use.

Yes indeed that's why I've said "somehow". But also considering the big leak in memory we have in the JB roms for the note, having zram enabled will give better experience compared to Out of memory situation. I have an Asus transformer tablet and its loaded with around 100 apps and games. It comes with 1 gb of ram ( 720 mb is utilized for ram the rest is for the gpu i think ) and I've never faced any OOT situation in my tablet. The free ram is always +400mb. Compared to my note (around 40 apps) 1 gb of ram ( which has 860 mb available as ram) and always the free ram is less than 100 mb (aosp roms) 50 mb (tw JB).

Sorry for the OT
