At this time, I cannot perform the dexopt functions directly from system/framework. I need to be able to do this and assimilate the new odex into the existing bootclasspath. I am not sure why, but I keep getting a permission denied or read only error at this time.

Is /system mounted rw?

Also, why don't you just use smali/baksmali (not apktool) on the stock services.jar odex and make the smali edit? That'd be a lot simpler than trying to odex from the phone.

Its not that simple. Feel free to do it if you think you know how. The jar has to be assimilated with the native jars. That can only be done from within the rom environment

As far as the option not being there you have to do a hard reset from inside the rom. Not sure why but the S4 had the same problem if you rooted out of the box and the activation process didn't complete fully. If you notice that when they activate they do a hard reset. Weird I know.

I'm actually having a hard time getting this to work. I can't get the stock deodexed rom to boot "kernel" warranty bit set or something. The odexed will boot but the mod doesn't effect it. As well the firmware update file doesn't take when using twrp and causes the kernel problem in cwm. How are you guys doing it?

Didn't work for me.

I just applied the zip in recovery. And the jar file seems to be unaffected. The hotspot still comes and says i am not subscribed to that feature and the usb and bluetooth connect but do not allow any traffic through from my pc. Any thoughts?



Sorry didn't understand part of thread. Must need a certain ROM already in place to use this mod. I will wait for one that doesn't require it. Trying to stay stock as possible.

I just pulled the SprintNote3_SystemOnly_N900PVPUBMI3 DEODEXED.zip and applied it. then Applied the NOTE3 MI5 DEODEXED HOTSPOT MOD.zip still no go.

Do I use the Recovery to apply SprintNote3_SystemOnly_N900PVPUBMI3 DEODEXED.zip I tried twice and the the .odex files are still there.
