Need help.

I must be doing something wrong. Before the Odex version I was trying to apply the Deodex ROM. I do use the custom recovery to do so correct? I tried and go no error but after reboot the .odex file wheres till present. i tried the Deodex MOD and the service.jar was not updated. So I said fine I will use the Odex MOD. Went into recovery applied it but still no go.

I don't what I am doing wrong but I eventually used a root browser and just overwrote the services.jar and services.odex file with the mod and it is now working.

any chance someone can pop out a mi3 odex version for us? that would be awesome.
especially since i can confirm as of right now that downgrading to mi3 and using the vega knox safe root method works!as long as you don't flash a custom kernel/recovery you can have root on mi3 with knox 0x0.

tried using the mi5 files since it looked like services may not have been touched in the upgrade just gets hung at the yellow sprint screen.

Edit
Never mind we now have mi5 on vega knox safe root.

I guess you didn't try upgrading to mi5.. doubt it would work and even if it did you would Probably lose root

Spoofing status on mi3 worked to get the ota but leaves you with mi5 no root and status custom.

But still knox 0x0

Apologies for what I'm sure is a noob question but this sounds like a different approach that may work from what I've been trying and failing at. I'm running stock rom, with root (Freeza's stock deodex). Build shows MI5, Baseband MI3.

I've tried a few times using Odin to re-apply the stock MI3 Tar file and factory resetting. Everything goes well, I get the update message, but I continually receive the "Your system has been modified" message. Tried with and without SD card and multiple Factory resets from stock recovery.

It sounds like you're saying there's a way to spoof status as not modified to apply the MI5 update and get the baseband up? Can you point me in the direction of that?

Yea it's fairly simple.
Use wanam xposed.
You can get it from the market.
You also have to install the xposed framework the link for that is on the market page.
Then just use wanam go to security and click report status as official.
That let me upgrade from mi3 to 5 but I lost root after.

I'm actually on MI5 and when I flashed the odex file, it did not work. I can in fact activate the wifi and we see it, I'm able to connect, but it tells me that there's no internet access.

Is there any additional settings that I need to go through to make this work?

Nevermind I got it to work, this vs the old hotspot was not THAT intuitive. If you allow all you still gotta allow the device for the first time. =/ Ahh well, my ignorance -- sorry about that.

Odex'd version works perfectly.

Thanks for the quick reply - I have the framework/module installed and the option to show as "Offical" but I'm still getting the modified message. I'll have to play with it some more tonight. Appreciate the pointer to a new direction to get this solved.

I had to...

Xposed installer > framework > install update

Then toggle the hack on off and reboot twice.

That seemed to do it for me the few times it wouldn't stick

Again sorry if a noob question but i seen no 100% answer for this question.

I am stock right out of the box and i rooted it. Now i downloaded the odexd mod so do i do like back in my old evo days of flashing and put this in the root of the phone go into recovery and flash it? then rebooted/

Do i have the right 1 for a stock 100% except i rooted it the Odexed and am i doing it right flashing by putting it on the root directory of the phone and flash it in recovery?

Thanks in advanced it has been like 2 years since i flashed and it was a little different back then.
