Compatible with most ROMs and variants
This is a WIP
New thread for marshmallow versions located HERE

New instructions please follow them exactly

CPU Thermal Throttling Mod The best mod to Increase performance and eliminate lag and less heat while charging and on the phone and in daily use
Featured in many ROMs like Skydragon , Xtralite G3, Slickrom G3 and Cloudys ROM as an add on just to name a few
Just read the comments and you'll see this is a must have mod
Compatible with all ROMs and all lg g3 variants
Here's a video testimonial about the mod by @KiaTheKing be sure to check it out and give him a thumbs up

http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/to-bring-ctt-mod-to-g4-t3183858

To all rom and kernel dev. feel free to use my mod just please give proper credit thanks

What I did is create a flashable zip that changes your thermal throttling I tweaked it so that the cpu doesn't throttle down so fast. Stock throttles you at 60° C down to 1.5 GHz with the first bump down. I've changed the first bump down to 70°C down to 2.34 on the first zip and 75°C on the second zip and 80° C on the third zip also I changed the next two bump downs, but I left the remaining four bump downs stock so there's no risk of this burning your phone up
I've also changed the temperature thresholds for the battery and the CPU/LCD in an effort to lower overall temps without effecting the performance any and all feedback is greatly appreciated
I'm just trying to make this mod the best it can be so thank you for your patience
Just a little FYI most custom kernels don't start throttling until 80° C

INSTRUCTIONS- First navigate to system/etc and scroll down till you find thermal-engine-8974.config, thermal-engine, thermald.conf and thermald-8974.config if you have them you might also have one 99th that ends in default copy them to a place on your sd card some ROMs only have one or two files that's alright still copy them so you have your originals saved then DELETE your old files and flash my thermal mod in recovery and wipe the caches dalvik/cache and reboot. Please let your phone go thru a couple of battery cycles for this mod to really settle in

If you want to go back to stock just navigate to system/etc and replace the modified ones with the ones you saved to your sd card and your back to stock.

New versions are compatible with all ROMs and should decrease heat improve battery life without decreasing performance

The first 5 do not have the 2.34 step down which are compatible with any rom
Here are the modified thermals -

Remember as with any mod there are risks and you assume all those risks I am not responsible for what you do with your phone (Always Backup)

ANY DONATIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED BUT NOT NECESSARY BUT HEY I CAN ALWAYS USE BEER MONEY

And please don't forget to hit thanks also give it a 5 star rating if you feel it deserves it

What I did here is create a flashable zip that changes your thermal throttling I tweaked it so it doesn't throttle down so fast. It also allows you to change the thermals to what ever you want using an app like 3c toolbox formally android tuner or another kernel app after flashing my modified thermal zip
Instructions- first you can do it one of 2 ways
First you can go to system/etc and scroll down till you find thermald.conf and rename it thermald.conf.bak so you have your original saved then flash my thermal mod in recovery or just flash my thermal mod and if you ever want to go back I've also made a revert to stock zip
I suggest doing the first method as the original is from a Verizon phone and the oringinal thermals may vary from model to model
Here is the modified thermal - https://www.dropbox.com/s/ujcs2vzwdr2hbk0/thermalmod.zip?dl=0
Here is the original thermal - https://www.dropbox.com/s/xietdyd1lq2epjd/thermaloriginal.zip?dl=0

Great Idea. Thanks for this.

How do you know your custom settings won't burn the motherboard down, melt the battery or cause a nuclear meltdown?

Nuclear meltdown maybe lol but the rest no I've had the settings since I got the phone and rooted it which has been a couple of months now and also had the same settings on my g2
To give you an example dorimanx kernel doesn't start throttling till the cpu reaches 80°c then bumps the cpu down one notch. Lg starts throttling at 60°c and bumps it down to 1.5 GHz what I did is the first bump down happens at 70°c and down to 2.26 then proceeds from there if you want to see all the rest just open thermald.config with a text editor and you can see
I left the last three bump downs stock so I highly doubt you'll have any type of meltdown

You should put that in OP that you've tested the settings and they're safe to use.
I saw that LG force shuts down the phone when CPU reaches 120C LOL my laptop shuts down at 100C

I think it didn't worked for me. I did'nt flashed. I tried it without because TWRP is not installed on mine.
One file is called differently on my G3. The thermal-engine-8974.conf is called thermal-engine-8974-default.conf. And I can't the original thermal-engine.conf. I changed the permissions of alle the files to rwxrwxrwx.
My benchmark scores are the same as before.

Is there any way to get it working without the flash?

-_- seriously? You're doing it for benchmarks? Jesus... This mod doesn't add another CPU or more RAM to your phone LOL :)

New mod for you guys to test

    Thermal mod 75rc4
    https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347760400
And don't forget to wipe the caches
Just one minor change to the CPU/LCD thresholds which are different then the bump down thresholds just for your info
My aim is to lower the overall temps of the CPU/LCD without effecting when it throttles
Please leave your feedback on whether it has helped or not
    Thanks Rob
    Flashing it now myself

I've been up for two nights working on this so all your thanks are greatly appreciated

Want your opinion hit thumbs up if you agree I should

I'm thinking I should start a new thread for the MM version as the op has become pretty filled with different versions
Hit thumbs up if you think that I should
    18
    All mods now updated

OK all mods have been updated in the op to the latest and greatest and which will be the final versions unless I can find something else which will improve upon the mod but any updates will be alot less frequent as I will test them myself for several weeks before even releasing them to any testers just because I want any updates to be a step forward
    Happy Father's Day to all
