[MOD][MAGISK] GPE Dialer and Contacts Magisk Mod for HTC 10.

Couple of things...

First of all, guys.... Please forgive me if I sound naive. I have been reading A LOT of information on this thread about the GPE dialer and contacts. I just need someone to please point me to a post with specifics on which version of the GPE dialer I am supposed to download with Leedroid.... using Magisk v.12, If any wipe is needed (or other instructions) and if I should use Magisk Manager to flash it or just flash through TWRP myself. I have been reading, but not really keeping up very well.... there is a lot of information on this thread! ? From what I understand, I should just stick with GPE dialer and contacts v. 3.0.... My brain is fried from all of the readimg! Thank you for any and all help....

Yes i tried that 2 weeks ago, i downloaded separately and then installed the v3.0.0 via th magisk tool, then turn off updates.. no go.. contacts still crashed

I should add some info here, contacts will open, however if you try to view someone in your contact list, thats when it crashes. The phone works, but if you are calling someone in your contact list it will dial and then crash when it tries to display their information. With GPE 3.0 i got phone 8.0.1 and contacts 1.76

I've never had any issue with phone 8.0.1 and contact 1.76 or 2.0. Just an idea, maybe try earlier version?

V 3.0(which has phone 8.0.1 and contact 1.76) is the one you should download and install in magisk manager for now.

I've never had any issue with phone 8.0.1 and contact 1.76 or 2.0. Just an idea, maybe try earlier version?

I went ovet to the apkmirror.com and found the dialer.... do you have link for 3.0 which has the contacts included?

Tried after the latest version of Venom that just came out.. still crashing.. its not the phone, it seems to be the contacts that is causing the issue.

Tyr to update the contact to v2. 7 am using the latest googlr phone and latest google contacts with no problems and i themed then with substratum

I replaced googledialer and googlecontacts with the latest v10 and 2.0.7 if anyone wants it and OP doesn't mind me uploading it since its his work and I just replaced apks and modified changeling and version number.

Feel free. I've been too busy with work to look at anything and I have not been running sense rooms for a couple months so can't really test anything. If it's working, please share...

sweet OK. I run viper with sprint and even though I have asop roms working I run viper all the time and I run apkupdater almost every other day so I can keep at least the apks updated in the module. But as for the actual module itself I have no idea lol as I've never written a module before. But here what I'm calling version 3.0.3 for anyone that wants it with the latest 10.0 dialer and 2.0.7 contacts. Enjoy and please let me know if it's working or not for anyone. It works for me perfectly. But I've never had any problems with any of the other dialer or contacts updates as other people have.

Just sharing, Google phone v10 doesn't work here with contact 2.0.7. It gives me the same crash.

The latest working version for Google phone is v8. And v8 works fine with contacts v2.0.7.

Well that was short lived.. while the contacts didn't crash, once I made a phone call, the phone crash.. back to stock dialer..

I wonder where these crashes are coming from as I haven't had a single problem with any version

The initial version was I think anyway...topjohnwu was designing a game changer!. I just tried it on my HTC 10 and it seemed like both phone apps were open and active...that could have been an install error on my end...let's see

For me, v8.0.148 works perfectly with 1.7.6 and 2.0.7 contacts.

This is working perfectly, no crashing on either phone or contacts, on both my US Unlocked HTC 10 and my wife's VZW HTC 10. Both Viper 5.10.0, Magisk 12.0, EX kernel 1.06. Thanks man, and thanks jsaxon2 as always. I still wonder if some people are forgetting to go to settings - apps - phone - make sure phone app is set to yes. Although the contacts app crashing sounds like it's unrelated.

On both of our phones, I noticed that after installing JohnFawkes' v3.0.3, Magisk Manager showed the module as:
zGPEDialer_HTC10

So I opened the config.sh file and found the MODID= was mismatched with the module.prop's id=. The config.sh file had zGPEDialer_HTC10 while module.prop had GPEDialer_HTC10.

Strangely, it didn't seem to make a difference with the previous versions because they all had "zGPE..." in the config.sh file, at least as far as 2.2.4. Anywho, I removed the 'z' and now it's properly showing the module info in Magisk Manager. I uploaded it here in case it's happening to anyone else. All credits go to jsaxon2 for the original mod and JohnFawkes for the further recent update.

The only thing I could think of (if it's not happening to other people) was that I used Detach mod (v2.5) for the first time for Phone and Contacts this time, for both of our phones. I really really don't see why this would cause it, but I figured I'd note it. Previously I always used Detach on our phones for Adblocked/Background YouTube magisk module. This time I figured it wouldn't hurt to also detach GP Phone and GP Contacts as well.

Magisk loads modules in reverse alphabetical order. Leave the z.
