its fixed and i didn't have to format back to stock. i am really happy
Glad you got it figured out, I guess I should have waited a bit. I had to flash TWRP via Odin and flash a stock Rooted Rom.

I'm afraid to try this again, maybe I will wait for more detailed instructions. I can't do without my phone working, I almost had a $250 paperweight. :crying:

What probably happened was the same thing that happened to him. You need to change the name scheme on your backups.
Read 2nd post i edited it.

Also if you go back a page or two there were some better instructions.

1. Unzip file
2. Use file explorer or adb to rename services .jar in the system/framework folder to services.jar.bak
Rename services.odex to services.odex.bak
3. Copy two files you unzipped into there spot.
4.reboot

Thanks If I have time this weekend I will try it out.

I did name them services_stock.jar and services_stock.odex
After I got TWRP loaded I tried to rename them back but would still get stuck on yellow sprint screen.

So I will (If i find time)
TWRP backup
make changes
reboot

Then report back!

pasted new files

rebooted. works a treat. sending this from the note 3's connection

took a while to connect to note 3 first time (connected but no net and did not show connected device on note 3 but about 60 seconds later connection on pc cycled and it popped up good and shows on note 3

I got this to work and I'm far from a tech guy at all. I get lucky a lot though. I used Es file explorer and Root Browser. I used root browser to rename files and I used Es file explorer to move them. It may not of been necessary to use both but it worked for me. I used root browser to write and re-write permissions as well. I used the two files in the downloaded zip (hackedmj4zip) file and those were the two files that I changed the permissions for and replaced with the stock files.

Like I said I'm not a tech guy

I also want to throw a verbal thanks to all that posted how to do this.

Perfect, confirmed working!

To be the honest the directions could still be a bit clearer, the being 0x0 knox made me think it was available for non rooted phone and the renaming instructions were confusing. I got stuck looking for .old and .end files, but it was not there, simply telling the user to rename services.jar to services.jar.bak would of been clear. Sorry for the nitpicking, just my experience. :good:

That's what the original instructions said but some people got stuck picking their own naming scheme.

Okay, so I followed the same steps as nerys71. My Note 3 hangs on the Yellow screen for more than 15 minutes, then I gave up, pulled the battery and restored my backup

Anyone have any insight on how to get past the yellow screen?

Hotspot Working Odexed!

Thanks for the good work! Instructions were a little hard to follow, but reading the whole thread was able to piece it all together!

Samsung Note 3 MJ4 build Stock Rom
Knox Counter 0x0
Rooted using Kingo 1.15 (5 Minutes)
downloaded Odexed Patch (post #2)
used Root Browser free on play store
navigate to \system\framework

VERY IMPORTANT (or you will be stuck in bootloop)
rename services.jar to services.jar.bak
rename services.odex to services.odex.bak
copy services.jar and services.odex (same folder \system\framework\) from Odexed Patch download
change permissions to rw-r--r-- for both files (Root Browser)

Before rebooting, double check your work!!!

Reboot and viola! Sprint Native Hotspot working!!
Knox Counter unchanged!

Will these directions work if Knox Counter is 0x1?
Also, Using Root Browser, It won't let me change permissions to rw-r--r-- for both files.. (Edit: fixed this problem).

Edit:
I'm still hanging/won't boot past the Yellow screen... This is quite maddening.
