How to enable Call recording for any mod
-----------------------------------------------
Here is complete guide to mod application by pulser_g2

To make call recording enable on your ROM simply do this
1.Download and Install Xposer installer from post #2 of above mentioned thread by pulser
2.Open application and select Install(update)
3.Reboot device
4.Download and install Enable call recoring apk from post#3 of above thread
5.When you get a notification about enabling the modification, tap it and select Enable call recording (it will be in Xposd onstaller - module)
6.Reboot device.

Now you will have Call recording option in phone app UI
Njoy !
All credits goes to pulser_g2 and other developer, I have just mentioned steps here for call recording.

I found this to LJ1 Odex

http://d-h.st/k83
Extract files and manually replace packed apk files to system / app directory, change permission rw-rr, Reboot device.

Tested and working!
I confirm, it works fine.
You have to delete, move or rename the file secPhone.odex and then reboot the device.
Tested on firmware XXALJ1.
Grazie squalotto...:) and thanks dr.ketan for the advice...

Someone mentioned that they thought this would work on VZW Note II (SCH-I605, current OTA is I605VRALJB), so I thought I'd ask here...will it? Or should I use the XPoser app previously mentioned? I worry about using a modding app because I am concerned about what else will be changed besides the two files I'd back up prior to installing and running it...Thanks in advance.

Auto record is not possible with Mod
You have to look to thirt party application for that
I have tested this and working fine on LJ1/3
It have both option, record while on call as well auto record as well many other features.
Could you tell what settings have you used and how was the quality of the incoming calls?

Ok, to answer my own question, Call Recorder from skvalex works only when recording calls from standard android API, but it works quite well. The quality of recorded conversation is good.

This actually means the rooted device is not required for this.

PS I am on stock ROM.

Skvalex call recorder is awesome :) the mode it works on differs device to device. Which is why theres the option. :)

My old desire hd used the "2 way call recoding (requires root)" option.

The new version also work perfectly on my note2. Also on stock rom but rooted, dont think i had to root to achieve call recording :)

Gn1 or 2? Im assuming gn2 b/c of build number lol makes me feel better, I only rooted to achieve CR and found the app worked after, the version I had before didnt work (older version) now using 29
I meant Galaxy Nexus, sorry. Galaxy Note 2 doesn't require root to work. You just need to leave source which is anyway selected by default (Standard Android API.).

So, I'm about to buy a call recorder off the market so I can use extra features (like auto record, etc).

Which one is verified to be working with the new 4.1.2 release AND will probably get new releases for future roms?

(I would normally buy both and post my comparisons, but these apps aren't 99¢...

Total recall has 14 day free trial versions on the play store and one specifically for the galaxy s2/s3 (which also works on the note2) but my favourite is the one by Skvalex. The above link is tge thread for the skvalex app. Has a free trial for that one too. The skvalex is actively being worked on
