Is the mixer.xml required for this to work

Sent from my SM-N910P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
If you're referring to the links, you have the option to place the mixer xml manually with a root browser or flash it with TWRP or Flashify (somewhat automatically depending on your preference).
It's the same mod either way. The zip is the safer method. Wiping cache is optional. You can also save your original or just rename it if some reason you find the rear speaker only a better option.

Yeah i flashed the mod, louder volume for sure, but i plugged up the rear speaker with my finger to see if the audio was coming out of the front speaker and it was not, thats why i figured i might need the xml file....hmmm you guys sure your getting audio from the front speaker when playing music

Yes. I could be wrong but at first I thought it should be as loud as the rear speaker but it's surround. One poster in the original thread said he had attempted the mod but it wasn't surround stereo so this mod was better; stereo surround. Sounds like stereo surround to me.
Try again or test another mod. You should have some sound, especially the higher tones.

I've uploaded loud test xml and zip and placed the links in post #5 of this thread.
If you're still using the mod from the T-Mobile Note 4 Edge with no issues that's good to hear but I somewhat doubt that all possible scenarios are working as intended.
To elaborate on what I said before, there are some paths that called by different names and one that totally removes all the variables in a T-Mobile path when comparing the two original files. Hey, the original surround mod in loud configuration may actually sound better; I may have missed something. To anyone concerned as myself, I'd recommend this test version until the original OP ports directly to our device. Loud was the original T-Mobile Note 4 Edge release as tested and fixed for the audio issue resolved so maybe it's more ideal for our device.

I'd also like to know if there are sound quality issues or differences comparing the two so try if you like. Hoping it's the same mod but fully compatible. I've linked this to the original OP so feedback may be helpful to someone. Thanks and don't forget to thank the developer in original thread.
Gonna give yours a test and compared it to the one i have from the OP of this topic in which it's from the T-Mo note edge .

Saw this neat little trick on the Portal for the Note Edge to utilize the front-facing speaker as a media outputter. Tested on my Sprint Note 4 and it works great, so I figured I'd post it here. Just flash and enjoy.

I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR THIS MOD OR IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE.

Samep, do xda and us, a favor, stop posting your bs links with malware jerkoff. If you want to share something, use a legit dl site. Thanks

FYI this mod breaks fm radio(no sound) and wificalling (sound only through headset) Needs to be patched correctly to sprint mixers_xml.

Sorry, I'm not the one placing those dupe download links on those pages. I've notified dev host many times about this with no response. Do you use an ad blocker? More below.
I'm not aware of any XDA policy or sworn discouragement of using dev host. Sorry if this alarmed anyone or caused confusion or anger. It's not malware; I'd call it adware at most. I don't sponsor or gain anything from it. I do my work for free; don't post donation links either.
Not meaning to be full of BS on this topic but anyone in the know on recent dev host policies or even voluntary abstinence please enlighten me. I've long thought this to be a known workaround, pressing the right "Download Now" tab. Thanks in advance.
@pongoface, in the future please be more respectful of one's use of download site selection and verbage. I have seen in the past that the site will go into an auto download of an application that most likely isn't wanted but the ad blocker (I use adaway) will block the auto download and selecting the color matched download link will get the proper download. I find a lot of download sites are finding ways to make money by forcing ads or advertising premium memberships. Policies and methods can be confusing. I thought dev host methods were known by all; am I wrong? Thanks.

BTW, pong must have been testing the mixer file linked in the OP. The files linked in post #5 still work on NK2 ROMs.

Edit: now that the dev host theme has changed, use the blue "Download Now" link. Also noticed if using PC to download, uncheck the box "Download with Dev-Host Download Manager" to avoid unwanted adware download. Your antivirus may alert you to this behavior Dev-Host is using.

I noticed a few had posted potential issues with Viper4Android audio with the surround mod so I took a stab and built a test version to possibly play better with viper. Viper audio is awesome.

Been testing this version since December 20th. Sent it to the original developer but he seems to be taking a holiday break. Feedback welcome.

Not sure where you guys get viper from. I found the Android version in the official English site.

Is this the stock, medium, or loud volume?

Hi guys, I have a n910g Note 4 and tried using the Note Edge surround mod in the original thread and I lose the ability to hear people in calls using both the earpiece and the loudspeaker. I then used a stock Mixer_Paths.xml file and was able to hear the other end of the calls again.
Will that happen with this one? I wouldn't have expected Samsung to use 2 different configurations in the Mixer_Paths for the Note 4 and Note Edge.
:)
