This only gives people an option thats all. IMHO you dont lose that much real estate and you can theme them,
Exactly... I am all for the option. This mod was critical for me when I had cracked my screen and the physical buttons were not working.

Kept me in the game for a days until I could get a replacement phone

I updated to the soak build 23.3.23 for the Maxx. I enabled On Screen Navbar on previous system, but that mod is not flashing via TWRP because the system doesn't match. Anyone have any idea how to enable On Screen Navbar on the new 23.3.23 build?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

From a post one page back in this thread:
I know this is old but if anyone knows how to port this to the 4.4 19.6.3 Droid Mini I have the framework-res.apk here.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7k7T7Zw9b5NNGZKcndPRWZxZVU/edit?usp=docslist_api
I don't have this device but it seems to be pretty straight forward...

Show Navigation bar

Using Apktool, decompile:
framework-res.apk
Navigate to:
framework-res.apk > res > values > bools.xml
Open with Notepad++ and look for: Line 71
Change:
>falsetrue

Some roms you have to unlock the capability by updating the bottom of the build.prop with

qemu.hw.mainkeys=0

using root explorer in text editor mode, saved changes and reboot. Once rebooted you should have onscreen nav keys, Hope that helps.

This hasn't been working so far on ultra/maxx, we've had to do the framework edit instead. I'm downloading the update now, should have a flashable zip up tomorrow afternoon sometime, won't be able to do it tonight.

Thats why I said this is for some roms,,,,most stock roms you can just alter the framework bools to get it working,,,other debloated roms have it already altered to "true" so there is no changing the bools, you have to alter the build prop.
