welp...
very glad that didn't brick me LOL

but it didn't flash. I was attemping to modify the EngBoot image, to inject the init.d parser, but flashing it in Odin failed.

Now, I'm going to see if we can utilize /system/etc/init.sec.boot.sh for it... since that's where root injects the masher.sh anyways :)

Bingo.
Now to see if they will still run after "Unrooting"

I think we'll still need EngBoot, however, I found when I rooted my device that the slow-downs did not happen until after applying the su.img and superSU, so... maybe... ;)

As far as I am aware, i'll still be able to get these scripts to run via Busybox, once the device gets unrooted after flashing the tweaks.

But... I do believe we will still need to use the Eng_Boot image no matter what. @Craz Basics
Sound about right?

So, we can use init.d without root according to this. What it means by running them with root is manually selecting "execute" on them.

I'm more thinking about how the stock boot img would handle it lol
I'm able to "inject" directly into ini.sec.boot.sh on flashing.
I do it right above the calls for daemon_su and master.sh (from rooting)

I rooted stock, flashed v5.2, then unrooted.

While the logs themselves arent getting written, I can verify that the RIB and WL flags are indeed getting unset :D, meaning the init'd scripts are running.

I jave a couple more tests to do, but we may even have se permissive :D

@kevp75
Test without eng boot, just extract from stock ap, compress as .tar and flash in odin (Prince comsy?) After you root and flash tweaks of course

I also was thinking about system apps, for example the google play store... it can modify the system partition soooooo

Also, about modifying eng boot... I highly doubt we can get it to boot with it, but try if you want... you'll have to flash with flashfire though... and it shouldn't permanently brick your phone. I've flashed the flat s7 on accident and it just turns off after every 2 seconds or so.... you can still enter download mode (bootloader is fine)

Tried that...
Everything I try hits a brick wall, and the only things that end up working is throwing the call to the scripts in /system/etc/init.sec.boot.sh right after the call to fire up daemonsu... or in s7scripts/master.sh

I have one more try I'm going to attempt later today. I am going to move them to the sdcard, keep the firing of them in init.sec.boot.sh and see what happens... i think it's because without root, the system can't read the files in order to execute them...

what app do i add to the exempt list to be able to reply thru my notification bar? - i.e. when receiving a text, or an email i can reply thru the notification pull-down without opening app, after installing tweaks (which work amazing btw), i am unable to do this. i added the specific apps to the exempt list but still no dice.

thanks in advance for any help or suggestion

I have never been able to "reply though notification pull down" on any device I've ever owned, in neither SMS, nor any email app I've ever tried.

This said, my SMS messages popup for me, and I am able to reply to them from that (there are settings for this in SMS settings). Note, that it is the stock messenger app that comes with both the S8 ported from from jkruse, as well as the 100% stock rom I get from Xfiinity (albeit Verizon).

If you do not have a Verizon S7 Edge, on the latest Nougat I am not sure what the "app(s)" would be to which you refer, so I cannot help you.

Let me know what device you have, and what rom you are on; as well as what Message and/or Email app you are talking about, and we can go from there.

you'll have to find what the full package names are foe your apps and add them to both /data/data/rib_allowed and /data/data/wl_allowed

phone i dont know... i get calls on mine without issue unless im in my basement (whic is full concrete without windows)

Wait... what are we talking about lmao...

What I'm saying is flash eng boot, root, flash tweaks, and then unroot and flash stock boot.img
aye. everytime i do it... i end up softbricking and have to start over.

even tho root removes the knox apps, there are checks for knox in the stock kernel... which is why we need EngBoot. The dev kernel doesnt have the knox checks
