Hard saying if they would notice. I see 30+ people flashing it without (as far as I know, anyway) even checking the zip out. So my initial response is, of course, probably not.
I see your point if a nandroid being a useful way to test flashable zips, but they don't always restore. I've had several nandroid backups fail to restore my phone. The way I see it: why take unnecessary risks, when you can just as easily discover the zip source and do a bit of reading. (Which, I did. Its legit, and does offer some audio improvement in the mid and low ranges.)
You say this is a dev forum. So pick the thing apart and find out how it works instead of relying on nandroids to cover your mistakes.
That's all I'm trying to say.
