Thank you for the valuable information. UsPdSr

This regards EDIMAX ew-7811un realtek chipset driver in POCO F1 with nethunter.
I tried the magisk packages .fw files inside the folders and moved them in respective system place, still no joy. I am using the MIUI 10 stock rom with sphinx 2.5 kernel. I am not desperate to get this to work as with atheros chipset works fine also at this point the Nexus devices I believe are the best integrated devices for pen-testing. In Nexus 6 works edi max , atheros and nexmon wlan0 adapters . Just saying.

As for nethunter if you update the source files and than run apt-get update it will be updated and current.
Thanx to the community, keep internet as a instrument of freedom.

Best of Luck!

Which wlan adapter's chipset have I linked? :>

If you are okay with 'Atheros' then I am glad for you.

I was writing about those Nano adapters, because you've asked repeatedly.

Which Adapter are you using now?

Nexus 6p is not the best device anymore. At least for Nethunter.Even with Oreo suppprt.
Oneplus is preferred by Offensive and Binkybear since a couple of years as well as for the Xda community.Samsung is cheap and has ongoing support as well.If you want to use Nethunter in a way that is nearly efficent, you go with Nvidia's shield.
Nothing beats that device.

I don't know what it has to do with updating the repo, but for all those devices it's going to be difficult. - >
It's not just done by simply editing the repository, because your kernel is outdated. At least as for 80 % of the Nexus devices.

But good luck in your future endeavors, pal

Tried to install ANDRAX via terminal but it has an output "tar: corrupted data" "tar: bad error". Tried to redownload it 2 times but has the same output. I tried to extract it using an unzipper or just a file explorer but has same output, "error corrupted data"

Hello there , by driver chipset I mean these links u posted before:
https://github.com/rithvikvibhu/nh-magisk-wifi-firmware
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Edimax_EW-7811Un

As for devices supported I have only experience with nexus and samsung s5. Now with the poco f1 I am using an Atheros with tp link tl-wn722n ver 1, but recently some problem with wifite and bully doesn't get the psk key only wps pin.

I guess the nexus series is outdated but there is a feature which is pretty ****ing awesome with the native wlan0 in monitor mode. In nexus 5 from binkybear. https://gist.github.com/binkybear/8f0f4eee292d5263372f47c3c3edd08e

I would go with a nexus 6p or nexus 5 have you tested this one?

Ah, okay.
I misunderstood you.

Btw, glad to meet another Nethunter-'lover'.
There aren't many around..at least who are serious about it and not just want to 'hack sth. l33t'.

Yeah, it's not that easy to pentest like two years ago @wifite.. ;)

Did you try Wifite2?

I mean the version that you have to download and can then either run from the respective folder or install it with python.
From the technical point you should be pretty satisfied with the F1, or have you more complaints than Wifite?

https://github.com/derv82/wifite2

Like I wrote in my previous post, if you have any ambitions regarding Nethunter then I would sincerely recommend the Nvidia Shield tablet.
If you are open for a tablet instead a smartphone of course.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/sh.../kali-nethunter-nvidia-shield-tablet-t3356138

A fellow user recently updated the kernel, so that it is possible to use Nougat.

As for performance there is no better device.

I am currently using the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...velopment/rom-kali-nethunter-os-t3596453/amp/

https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...nt/kernel-nethunter-oreo-mido-t3768887/page14

But because it's not that smart to use Nethunter as your daily driver I got rid of it and bought a Nexus 7 (2013) 2.Generation

https://www.pentestpartners.com/sec...make-your-own-mobile-test-rig-with-nethunter/

The problem is that there is no support for Nougat, so after several attempts, I got the latest Nethunter kernel for Cyanogenmod 13 to work, but it's not ideal.

I even can use Andrax, but I don't like it, in regard to Kali.

I was thinking about buying the Nexus 5 or the 6p.

The latter is pretty decent.
I wanted to buy it at the same time of the Redmi Note 4x, but it was too expensive back then.

Even the inbuilt monitor mode option is not that effective, it is a kewl feature that is far more practical than a additional Nano Wlan Usb adapter.

Looking forward to hear from you :)

None of the options work on PE? Or is there something that wasn't tested so I can try and see?

Update: found a work around to get ANDRAX to install on PE but it stil didn't work. Oh well... I guess I'll try it when I move to a different Rom.

Guten Tag UsPdSr

I am looking into getting my hands on a nvidia shield tablet,
Danke for sharing your experience and links for more pentesting.
I am astonished by the power of linux and its potentials.
As for poco f1 I think still a more powerful kernel should be developed to fully support monitor mode.
I will try to do a cutom version the following days with sphinx source code.
Hope more developments will be available in the future for kali nethunter.
Have a nice week.
Respects, Ben :cyclops:

Grüß dich,

I am glad to hear that I could be of help. :)

I don't have the F1 and neither a release of the kernel.

So I can't estimate if this a device/kernel which is the best fit for this project.

I read a few pages in the Sphinx thread and think that there isn't much what you could 'improve'.

Of course I don't know how skilled you are in regard of android programing etc.

But from what I read is the kernel very impressive.

I don't see this kind of feature richness in other kernel.

As for the performance of your phone;it is performance wise better than the Nvidia tablet.

Altough two quite important notes-
Kali shouldn't be used as daily driver, neither Nethunter or Kali via Linux deploy.
The second one is the advantage of the screen size of a tablet and it's handling.

Even used costs the Nvidia shield tablet still around € 200 on ebay.At leat for the 32gig model.

At least someone has build a kernel for Nougat, which is nice to see.

Before you buy it is always advisable to consider the development and user participation, eg. Xda.

The missing Nexmon support should be considered as well.

On the other hand it is the recommended device by the Pwn Pad developer.

In any case, no smartphone/tablet is able to crack sth. more advanced than a Kali Linux installation on your desktop/laptop.

It is great for reconnaissance and some basic stuff, but that's it.

The Raspberry is very interesting in this regard.Mainly because there are 'disposable'.

The Raspberry Pi 3 b+ has nexmon support.

I have the experience that a combination of all is the best formula.

Oh, before I forget.

The next user who sends me a Pm asking if I could 'hack xy', will be the winner of a free forwarding to a moderator inbox. :)

I do this for professional and not for some guys who want the login to their girlfriends Facebook page.

Seriously.
If it's that important use google. There are dozens of offer out there, unfortunately. :/

With best regards

It's no use.

Buy a Nexus and be happy.

Even with Sphinx kernel you guys are screwed .
I mean that in a regrettable way.Not with schadenfreude.

I bought a Nexus 6p and planning to use multirom with Oreo Stock + Nethunter and whatever rom I find interesting.

Hopefully you guys are going to be fine.

It would be a shame if you can't use Nethunter in regard of the relatively high device costs. :/

I had the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x (SD) with Nethunter for Oreo as well, but in the end it was a pain because mido doesn't have a functional multirom support.
The same goes for the Dual patcher.

It not really agrees with Miui, unfortunately.

But I digress.

Good luck, guys!

And this is good/not-good?

The kernel is very good maintained, beside the versatile functions.

If you are unsatisfied, buy a used Nexus 5 or maybe the Oneplus 1 for a couple krugerrand.

In comparison; the Nexus has Nexmon support and works like out-of-the-box, but afair the storage os maximum 32gb.130euro almost new.

The Oneplus is in the same price range + 64gb storage, but without Nexmon.

As far as you are familiar with Pen-testing, cyber security eg., using Kali as daily driver on your phone isn't advisable.

The Poco is most definitely a great phone.

I have a Oneplus 3, but the Redmi Note 4x was a nice device for the price.
I would suggest trying to look up possibilities of Multi-boot(Dual boot patcher, Multirom) or to consider to buy a according device.
