hey guys,

after all the hype from the launch event and now the port of the early system dump from m8 we have already a great sense 6 experience.
However a few things are missing until the official base is ported to our device.

one of them is the ultra power saving mode.
luckily i got it working on our sense 6 ports.

steps to get it working:

1st method:

flashable zip (confirmed working): https://www.dropbox.com/s/wn3nxs6ytdn1nvb/extreme power saver flashable.zip

2nd method:

1. Back up your current Settings.apk found in system/app
2. Back up your current HtcPowerManager.apk in system/priv-app
3. download the attached zip file and extract it https://www.dropbox.com/s/3lu0uwjgj8ydh9a/enable extreme power saver.zip
4. Copy downloaded Settings.apk in system/app and set permissions to rw- r-- r--
5. Copy downloaded HtcPowerManager.apk and HtcExtremePowerSaverLauncher.apk in system/priv-app and set permission of both apks to rw- r-- r--

restart your phone and enjoy the little preview.

i took the apk´s from @mike1986.´s m8 rom so credits for that!!

if anyone would like to make a flashable zip, feel free to do i will include it with credits here. right now i do not have the time

do a nandroid backup in case you do not know how to push back the original apks via adb.

Does it actually function like it should or is it just a preview like you said?

I did not have enough time to test.
but what i could see is that it restricts background data, so basically no auto sync or push notifications. and further i think it kind of greenifies all apps except the ones you see in the square tiles. so basically it should work on our device. but on s801 deep sleep is heavily improved so i think it will work but not as good as on m8. :)

any rom with rom control app has a modified settings apk and will make your device bootloop if you flash a stock one like this.

yeah i'm on the first sixth sense rom they posted officially here. Without any tweaks. I'll write a note in the op.

sorry that you got into trouble but such things are always risky

btw I think you could have pushed the original apks per adb to get out of the bootloop ;)

Okay, so somehow installing this removed some important binaries (namely, /system/xbin/su) and also deleted my SuperSU.app in /data/app.

Naturally, this really ****ed up all of my apps that require root on boot and just messed up **** in general.

Once I fixed my SuperSU problem by re-doing my root stuff, I uninstalled Settings and Settings data and Power to restore from a backup I made a few days ago in Titanium backup. Rebooted into recovery, wiped cache, rebooted system and it worked again. So I should be set.

OP, please please please remove that zip from the OP or just put a warning. Must not work on M8s. Don't see why or how it removes binaries and uninstalls Superuser.

    Captain Obvious here,

This is a forum for the M7, you installed a zip on your M8, it didn't work and you want the OP to include a warning?

Perhaps first asking "will this mod work on the M8 as well", or test it (as you did) and report back it did not work and why. Calling a Dev malicious (your other post) because a zip meant for an M7 didn't work on your M8 is kinda silly.

Though now that the official Sense 6 version for the M7 has EPS built in, and most M8s have gotten the update this thread itself is kinda redundant.

    can confirm..it works.

It would be cool if there will be a possibility to change the app which are still working. I mean, I don't use stock sms, calender etc. I user Digical and Hangouts and they aren't shown in the extreme power save screen. I only have phone and exit ;)

    Hi,

The messaging app is not showing in extreme power saving mode. Is there any way to fix this?

    I'm using ARHD 62 Thanks! :)

Either you deleted messages apk or try setting your standard messaging app to stock app ;)
