[MOD] SMS & MMS on Xoom 3G with Tiamat 2.2 / 2.2.1 Moray

Hello ppl!

I modded the framework-res.apk of Tiamat 2.2 and 2.2.1 to allow SMS (as requested) .
I won't do a SIP enabled version anymore since it doesnt work properly, and i can't fix that. It's a google issue!

REQUIREMENTS
- Device running TIAMAT 2.2 MORAY or TIAMAT 2.2.1
- 3G Xoom Only
- Should work on EU & US devices
- Carrier that allows Text messages (please use your SIM-card from your normal phone to try sending SMS)

INSTALLATION & OPERATION
1. Download the attachement you need.
2. Rename the attachement to framework-res.apk and push to /system/framework
command: adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
3. Reboot device
4. Download an SMS app like GO SMS Pro , not HANDCENT (you wont find it in market apparently), latest version is attached below.
5. Thank me

framework-res-TIAMAT-2.2.1-ORIGINAL.apk = Backup framework for 2.2.1 incase something goes wrong
framework-res-SMS-MMS-ONLY-Tiamat-2.2.apk = Just SMS enabled in this version, only for Tiamat 2.2
framework-res-SMS-MMS-ONLY-Tiamat-2.2.1.apk = Just SMS enabled in this version, only for Tiamat 2.2.1

GO SMS Pro 3.68.apk = Please use this app to send messages, HANDCENT does not work on MMS!

Uhm Tiamat 2.2 added an option in browser so you can choose UA. I've not changed anything except set something to True, so sms works.

Uhm Tiamat 2.2 added an option in browser so you can choose UA. I've not changed anything except set something to True, so sms works.

Dear all, may I know who have tried to enable SMS/MMS in 2.2.1 ??

As shutdown menu is modified in 2.2.1, I suppose we need a new update! Please update this for Moray 2.2.1, thanks a lot~~~~~~

i wish this mod was added to the tiamat roms as standard.

is there any newbie step by step to push or replace the framework-res.apk?
I manage to mount the device, (mount/system) and type adb push framework-res.apk/system
is there any right format?
fyi, i did try to push it in but ended stuck in the animation screen. had to to to clockworkmod again to wipe and install new rom.

I will make it today! Now i hope that Tiamat works a bit better! The stupid thing always flashes worng version + had me wipe all my data cuz it bootlooped.

Now the dl is very slow...

Anyway, you'll have it in about 30 mins

Now I ask how do you do it. Is it a small change to one line of the main. XML file?
if so then how are you editing the XML.
I find if I unzip the framework.Res.API the XML files are not readable.

just downloaded, and tried to push, in the cmd got a hell long words, but still nothing happened to the xoom, what supposed to happen when it is working?
am I missing something?
did make sure the usb already mounted to the device.

1. adb remount
remount succeeded
2. adb devices
did see my serial number.

all the steps up there I did in the recovery.
and i have navigate to the folder contain renamed framework,

last thing I type:
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework

nothing happened, Am I missing something here?

Can I send SMS messages if I a only wifi connected?

This looks great. Would be better as a CWM zip file.
