[MOD] SMS & MMS (SIP optional) on Xoom 3G (3.2) for Tiamat 2.1 Hammerhead

Hello ppl!

I modded the framework-res.apk of Tiamat 2.1 to allow SMS, SIP and normal calls on your Xoom! I saw someone did this before, but for 3.1. So i tought why not make it for 3.2 too?

ONLY FOR TIAMAT 2.1 HAMMERHEAD, IDK IF IT WORKS ON OTHER ROMS (probably not)
Voice calls do not work well!

REQUIREMENTS
- Device running TIAMAT 2.1 HAMMERHEAD
- 3G Xoom Only
- Should work on EU & US devices

INSTALLATION & OPERATION
1. Download the attachement you need.
2. Rename the attachement to framework-res.apk and push to /system/framework
3. Reboot device
4. Download an SMS app like GO SMS Pro , not HANDCENT (you wont find it in market apparently), latest version is attached below.
3. (Optional) Download CSipSimple
-This will give you a dialer, which will allow SIP and NORMAL CALLS on your Xoom

ATTACHEMENTS
framework-res.apk = Modified framework with SIP , SMS , MMS en normal Voice Calls enabled (but these don't work , speaker and mic do not work for some reason)
framework-res-SMS-MMS-ONLY.apk = Just SMS enabled in this version
GO SMS Pro 3.65.apk = Please use this app to send messages, HANDCENT does not work on MMS!

I dont know lol, havent tested that lol. Try it for me i have no SIP account anyway

ok I got it to call my phone, but no voice or anything comes over either way. I do not know anything about the voip options so I did not pick one or set anything up. none of the apk's would install directly, so I had to use market to get csip to install Didnt find handcent on market. Maybe a link to how it was setup in 3.1? Id love to have these features SIP account? waht is that and how do I get one if I am on Verizon?

Same results:

I can text my phone just fine.

I can connect a call, but no audio from either device.

looking at SIP settings.

Yeah, same results as those above.

My Telstra Data plan includes $5 worth of calls for some reason, so have been calling using those (not SIP). Call connects, no audio in or out. SMS works fine.

Included handcent download didn't work, but can easily download from Handcent Website. It's free.

edit: Note for others: Don't delete your current framework-res.apk before you copy in the new one, everything crashes on the phone and I had to wait until I could get on the computer to push via adb. Just backup your current framework-res.apk and copy over the top.

sms works perfectly. Awesome. Gives me something new to play with. Haven't tried the phone part. Don't see a need for that. For me anyway. Great work.

Haven't had a problem with normal SMS, seems to work fine. But when I try to send mms, it fc's and kills the internet connection. Have to delete the message from within handcent to stop internet from disconnecting.

GSM doesnt work ok for me. I Cant even send SMS, and also no sound when calling.

yeah plain text worked fine, it was sending pics that force closed it.anyway it was fun to experiment with and hopefully there will be workarounds. Texting from a tablet seems like it should be something that would have been part of the platform, phone... not so much, but still a fun option.

I don't know why I can't copy the framework-res.apk. Trying to copy using root explorer, it didn't work. Trying to use the adb method, got stuck on bootscreen, .

Could somebody help me to solve this problem ?
