This is a modified, awesomer version of the Froyo TouchWiz launcher.

---Update---

-Due to demand, I am posting versions that have the colored icon backdrops in the app drawer. Apparently some people like those ugly things.

---New in v1.1 (10/30)---

-Smoother fly-out animation when leaving app drawer
-New version with redesigned 5-icon dock! (screenshots further down in post)
-No more 16-bit disabled version... everyone seemed to prefer the speed improvements of the enabled version

---Features---

-Landscape mode (270° rotation)
-Transparent app drawer background and no icon backdrops
-New fly-in effect for app drawer icons
-Removed text "Press and hold this page to add content" from blank screens
-Galaxy Tab specific code removed to reduce app size
-Enabled 16-bit mode for faster/smoother animations

New 5-icon dock version! To change the icons in the dock, hold and drag the one you want to replace out, then go into the app drawer (or from homescreen) and hold and drag the one you want in. Blurrycam tutorial

Installation (If you're a noob, I recommend using Root Explorer. If you're not, you probably don't need this installation guide.)

1. Copy the default TouchWiz30Launcher.apk and TouchWiz30Launcher.odex (if applicable) from /system/app to your SD card as a backup.
2. Delete TouchWiz30Launcher.odex (if applicable) from /system/app and copy this new TouchWiz30Launcher.apk over the old one.
3. Set permissions of the new TouchWiz30Launcher.apk to rw-r--r--. You can probably get by without doing this. Haven't tried it.
4. Important! If you are installing the new dock version you must clear launcher data to unhide the apps that were in your dock previously. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Running > com.sec.android.app.twlauncher and then force stop, clear data, and press home.

Strange... I couldn't install it. I am on Cog 2.2 beta 9.
It tried to install, then it shows "Applicaiton not installed"
Just need to put it in /system/app. Be sure to back up the TouchWiz30Launcher.apk that's already in there in case you want to go back.

Great. Thank you. Can't wait to try it.

Sent from my Captivate

Edit: Should we remove the .odex file if we're using the stock 2.2? I backed up and replaced the stock launcher with yours, and got FC's upon reboot.

Yeah, you need to remove the odex file.

Got it working perfectly. A wonderful mod to TouchWiz.

Sent from my Captivate

Edit: So it's not perfect. Here's what I've found so far.

When I'm in an app and I hit my Home key, it goes back to the home screen. No problem at all there.
When you're already at the home screen, and you hit the home key, the whole launcher FC's.
It also takes forever to load the icons on my homescreen.

Isn't the phone supposed to go to the home screen when you press the home key? It always has on any rom for me. Are you talking about the back key possibly?

When you're already at the home screen, and you hit the home key, the whole launcher FC's.

This has to be an isolated incident...both of my Captivates do not have this issue. Maybe reboot if not already done or replace and reinstall the launcher.

It also takes forever to load the icons on my homescreen.

Not sure but I am running COG 9.1.1 with Voodoo and everything is quick and I would say normal. Maybe more details about your setup so GTG can possibly give some help for your situation.

I did say that the first part had no problem at all....

I have rebooted multiple times and it still FC's. Only now, when the launcher does FC, it opens up the browser. Pressing the back button or the home button then, only repeats the process, forcing me to have to reboot the phone.

And my setup is in my signature...

Edit: Also, when in the app drawer, one of the sorting methods is missing. The one that comes on the phone has an alphabetical grid sort that is missing. The only two we have now are the custom grid and alphabetical list.

Well, could you dump a logcat so that we can see where the crash is happening, and if all else fails you could use another launcher... My LG Optimus launcher works on my Captivate.

But seriously. Logcats help out to determine if it's a localized issue or otherwise. :)

I'm guessing you reduced the number of home screens to 3 or less? I set the 4th screen as default and if the 4th screen doesn't exist then you will get FC's.

The long load time is caused by your FC's. Obviously if it FC's it will have to reload the entire launcher.

Yes, I only run 2 home screens.

I'll get you a logcat if you need it.

I believe that feature is exclusive to the Captivate and Vibrant TouchWiz launchers. This version of the TouchWiz launcher isn't based on either of those versions. I will see if I can get that feature added back in.

Don't need the logcat. I already know the cause. I will post a version that has the first screen set as the default.
Thank you x2. :p
